Can anyone confirm if the xenons are both dip and main beam or just dip with halogen mains?

I really don't understand what you're asking, maybe it's a UK thing but I'll just guess here. Are you asking if the lights are bi-xenon?

im not sure either..but i thought for the tech package, that the xenons were low beams and the highs were halogen. and normal halogen for fog.(scratch)

My understanding is that the xenons use the same light bulb for high and low beam and an electro-mechanical shutter switches between high/low. And this is how they appear in operation.

The best head lights I've ever owned.

Mazda always does a great job with headlights; my wife's '06 Miata is the same way. Makes me wonder why anyone opts for the more expensive HIDs?

Pretty sure that Bi-xenon are the most expensive type of HID lights out there.

OK, I may be wrong with the terminology, but my point is that I find the standard Mazda lights on both the MX-5 and CX-5 better than average.

The Xenon lamps are Bixenon so they act as high beam and low beam while the reflector spot becomes a dedicated DRL. In the halogen set up, the high beams and low beams are separate with the DRL being on the high beam side at reduced power
