Xenon bulb replacement

stupid question,

but which are the right bulbs for our 2010speed3's?

both for fog and the headlamps

aswell as, what is the optimal placement of the ballasts? That's the only thing that has been bugging me about getting HIDs, i have no idea where to put them.

55W 8000k but what bulb type for lets say, MAIN, and FOGS.

Thanks a ton!

H11 for both. As for the ballasts, I put them in the little nook between the engine bay and the fender. Totally hidden there, and so far so good.

The installation is almost straight forward. Once I got them out of the box and looked at all the components, I didn't even have anymore questions. You just simply pull out the old bulbs, route the ballasts/ignitors, and then screw in the new bulbs and plug them up. Watch out...the polarity of the ballast is reversed for our car.

For that problem, you can do one of 2 things. You can either cut the harness wires ans splice them correctly/pull the pins out and put them in correctly, or you can (as i did) just mash the connectors in backwards. It really didn't take a lot of force, and by the time I realized they were reversed, i had already routed the ballasts and zip tied everything nicely...so I had no room to splice/change pins.

I've had my kit for 2-3 months and haven't had a problem yet. Hands down, the best mod for the money.

Makes sense, that's for the tip on the polarity. I'm definitely going to order these as soon as my loan is funded. This week, I think.

Will these run with the current from the existing low beam connectors or do you have to run a wire to the +/- of the battery?

Did you mount your ballasts somewhere in particular and what'd you use to mount them exactly?

Thanks for all your help.

I literally flanked the left and right side by the fender. When you open the hood you'll see that the ballast fits beautifully on the passenger side. The drivers side, it was tucked in by the fusebox. All are held in place by double sided tape that seems to do a pretty good job.

I want to see some pics of that installation. That sounds like it looks clean.

As long as it's a 2010 it will be identical. Pre-2010 would take whatever the 07-09 Speed3's took. The car's lighting hardware is identical between Speed3 and Mazda3

Just did my DDM slim kit today, did a full write-up on the install. They're awesome!
