so what brand was that manifold you ended up getting?

No one knows. It's an FS manifold, but it would only work on OBD I cars. I'm guessing it was made for a 626 or Probe turbo kit.

for your bov i recommend getting a pipe off ebay instead of paying a bunch to have someone tig weld a flange for you. i recently got one for my new greddy type s and it looks like quality stuff, doubt ill have any problems. heres a few:

solve your manifold problem yet?

Thanks a ton for the link. I haven't fixed the manifold problem yet and it is really holding me back. I can't do anything until I mount the turbo.

I got the intercooler mounted today.

So you cut just to left of the outlet? I was looking at mine today and I'm not sure if I can cut that. My outlet is on the bottom, opposite of yours. It lines up just about with the bottom of the frame.

That part is like a box tube which will suck to cut through and also supports the radiator. Not sure if I want to hack through that. Bah. I've got another plan though...

Mount the IC upside down and then cut out the part just above that on either side of the radiator. In the picture its the part that is bulging out right above the T-bolt clamp.

Ah... yeah. My brackets are welded on pretty good though, dunno if I want to mess with that. I found some 2" piping that I think will work better. I'll have to buy more couplers and junk of course though :(

Alrighty, the project is starting to get back on track. I have got the manifold problem sorted out and should have a shiny new tubular manifold here in a few weeks. In the meantime, I have a few more parts to order.

Jealous.

Stock manifold weighs about infinity pounds. If my turbo craps out, I'm totally using that as an excuse to buy a new manifold.

PM me if you are interested in a cheap boost gauge and pod.

Gauge is a stewart warner 15psi still in the plastic.

I hate waiting on all theses parts.

But it's such a great feeling when they arrive at the front door.

Speaking of....nice little box from ATP arrived today. All my oil/coolant fittings and a few silcone bends. Yay! Also got an email that my SLS j/mid-pipe shipped today.

w00t w00t, no mani yet though?

I also want a new manifold because with the stock one, you can't reach 3 or 4 of the bolts with a socket. You have to use a wrench and it is annoying. I would hope the new manifolds aren't stupid like this.

Did you get that clip on the wastegate? I've got to get one for mine as well. I should have an easier time getting it on if I do it before mounting the turbo in the car.

Yep I just put it on and now have to remount the manifold, hook lines up and hopefully boost :D Those autozone eclips worked perfect. I used a tire pump to pressurize the wastegate a few times to make sure the clip didn't fly out.

It is much easier with the manifold off. I took a vice grips and grabbed the actuator arm just below the mounting bracket of the wastegate (closer to the wastegate actuator than the flap on the turbo), then moved the arm outwards (opening the flange), and then let the vice grip rest on the bracket where the wastegate mounts. This holds the arm out so you can put the end of the actuator arm into the flappy thing and put your e-clip in. I don't know if that makes sense.

Or if you had someone there, they could just hold the arm in place for you to put the clip in. Also you could pressurize it.

My J/mid-pipe left Kansas this morning. Looks like I'll be getting it next week. I recieved my MSP ECU last night. C'mon turbo manifold.......
