The brake pedal was cool, but there was no sensor for the clutch pedal so we wired one in. It's only one pos and one neg, we just had to figure out the right pin for the pos.

The clutch line detaches from the master cylinder and bolts up just fine, it taps the side of the master cylinder, mine had a little cover over the tap and already had a hole cut in the firewall. Mazda base design FTW!

how much actual rewiring was involved?

edit-also would need a cluster, and shifter, and plate.

I don't know why everyone always says the cluster, the only time you need to swap clusters is if the automatic in question is a p5 or ES cause the have the PRND21 indicator in the cluster, all other auto proteges don't need to swap clusters.

I listed the plate and shifter.

Are you reading Damian? lol. You only need to add the clutch sensor, and the pos for it and ground it some place and I don't even KNOW if you have to do it, we just did it cause we couldn't get the car to turn over so we were trying any and everything.

idk if you NEED the cluster, like it won't work any more but yeah, I guess its needed. Not sure if the tiptronic swap would be more difficult than the regular auto.

I think you will still need the clutch lockout hooked up...however you don't have to do it at the pedal oem like we did, you can just do it at the ecu and you should be fine

as for the parts list here is what you need that I can recall

clutch
flywheel
metal gasket between trans and motor
starter
half shaft (the 5-speed is a different length)
driver's side axle (pass is not needed)
rear motor mount bracket (not the mount, just the bracket that bolts to the trans)
rubber line between the master cylinder and slave cylinder
clutch slave cylinder
throwout cylinder
clutch line between the last two
driver's side motor mount
clutch pedal assembly
brake pedal assembly (not NEEDED, but the auto brake pedal sits only like a few mm away from the clutch pedal)
shifter
shifter actuation rod
shifter base rod
engine wiring harness
5-speed ecu

*note*
for VSS to work on an trans from a 5-speed with ABS you will need the abs sensors off the hubs...you MAY not need these if you replace the dummy plug on the back of the tranny with the actual VSS gear plug and hook it up to the wiring harness...the ABS engine harness has both the hub plugs and the tranny VSS plug, so it may read off of either of them

*another note*
thank Mazda for being cheap! they didn't even have an auto vs. 5-speed master cylinder haha...they both are exactly the same, they just throw a rubber cap over the line to the 5-speed slave cylinder on the auto hahahahaha

that's all I can recall off the top of my head, I'll add more as I remember more

and you only need the clutch alignment tool if you get a used clutch that doesn't come with it...pretty much all kits come with the clutch alignment tool, we just didn't have it cause we pulled the clutch off of the p5 motor and put it onto the LX motor

oh and wiring wise, just the clutch lockout needs to be sorted...no other wiring needed if the engine harness is hooked up correctly to the fusebox =P

fogs!

@dub - you said in one topic that you dont have clips on the headlights and your bumper is fitted properly... HOW ?!?

Mine wont align no matter what I do, the best I've come is to shorten the gap to around 5mm and it still looks awful

Wtf? Neox lists a pretty complete swap list and you guys start throwing body parts around?

Cupholder is the same, doesn't matter.

Vocko, yes, I don't have the headlight clips holding my bumper in place but I have no gap. When mounting my bumper, I have someone pull the bumper back to make it sit how I want it to sit while I tighten the bolts in the fender on both sides, does the trick everytime.

For the 5 speed swap, I don't think you need the entire cupholder assembly. There's a small plastic surround that sits between the cupholder and the metal shifter base. That is not present in an auto because it is what the shift boot gets attached to under the cupholder.

Thanks for that list Neox, I got most of that stuff already now. Really just need the clutch, alignment tool, ECU, and the harness.
