The pump will just get worse but as long as the temperatures are fine I dont think it would hurt.

but if its something else....then it could be bad.

I say swap the pump before you swap the engine. since you do have a spare pump on the other engine.

dude it didnt over heat because the water pump went bad it overheadted because the water pump pulley wasnting spinning because of no belt

dub thats the exact sound i was hearing from that thing i was telling you about (http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123750391) but it wasn't in the engine bay. i have no idea what it is. i got under my car and couldn't see anything. a guy at my local club had the same problem, he found out it was a loose exhaust hanger. he told me to look at everything thats moving when the engine is under load. if this helps, idk.

***edit: never mind you resolved the problem while i was typing***

tell me about it :(

Went to corner around the bend i can normally do 50 around, at 35 i felt like i was on ice with the stock wheels/tires on ...... :(

And now the crazy long throws with the stock shifter....... :(

I hate my car, any buyers?

I'm uploading a video right now (argh)

well surprisingly dub, i have the same problem, your not alone, it sounds like theres marbles moving around right by the side of the engine where the pulleys are .........it started about 3 weeks ago i started up my car and the noise was so noticeable (pissed) that i just couldn't ignore it i popped my hood and i got close to the motor, what im thinking is that the water pump pulley might have gone bad and thats why im getting that noise, im not sure if these pulleys have bearings inside them but thats exactly what it sounds like, like a bearing with no lubrication and its trying to spin at force, still don't know what the hell it might be (scratch)but im hoping its nothing big, my car never overheated btw and ive been driving the car like this, temperature gauge seems to be reading fine at normal temperatures and the noise seems to lessen as the engine gets warmer, any ideas anyone ??????

Doh, missed your whole fiasco Greg!

And i like it's my fault for having to get the bushing. lol

J/K.

Does suck though, mine is making noise but not like that! I'm gonna go with another guy and say swap the pumps for now and see if it goes away.

If not, swap motors, build up the spare, then when the one in goes, you're already ready to rock and roll

I think its the water pump... sounds like the bearing is shot. Seems like there's two ways to test my theory. One is to swap in a working pump and see if the noise goes away. The other is to remove the belt so nothing is connected to the pump and start the car (but don't run it for long... doh!)
If the pump & pulley aren't turning and the noise goes away, it was the pump (or the shaft the pulley mounts on).

I must agree with laser blue, unless the pump is leaking. The belt coming off also sounds like a worn bearing.

Yep.... my dad had it happen on his jeep. The bearing seizes and either throws the belt or shreds it. Then the lack of water circulation overheats the car. Lots of cars overheat... few end up with engine damage if they don't keep running it hot.

I got all the stuf to do this to mine but i am thinking of letting it go till i get my KL up. HMMMMMM.... I do not have noise yet but it is deffinatly due.

dub or someone else,

can you tell me what helped get the glue off from those door molding you took off?

the ones that protect against ppl openning their doors.
im havin real trouble and i dont want to scratch it all. someone suggested lemon oil but it doesn't seem to work very well.

There's this stuff I got from advance auto parts that's a sticker remover. Just keep soaking the adhesive with it and keep scratching it off. I used a mini card that goes on your keychain and it didn't harm the clearcoat or anything and it worked like a charm.

i used my six flags season pass from 2007

haha.
but its all worn cuz i was just usin water.
did you first soak it before or after takin it off?

btw, i got the lock act today dub
thanks a billion. nicely packed.

BUT you misspelled my last name you monkey.
you wrote mckernam

MY LAST NAME IS MY USERNAME(rant)

btw. i now own part of a copy of the LA times

Doesn't matter when you soak it, before or after pulling the mouldings off, because it will leave the residue behind anyway. You will always have to scrub the adhesive off. As already said, use a flat plastic edge while soaking the adhesive. Credit cards won't scratch the paint so you can use a bit of force, but not a ton. If you have some, put a bit of wax on there after you are finished too.
