what engine did the 93' Mazda miata come with? the 1.6L? is it the B6?

PLease anyone can help me out...Thanks

so here this...i got my b6 in my 2nd gen protege. I have seen there are turbo kits for the 93 miata 1.6L.
was wonderin if this will work with my b6 engine? sounds like madness or will it work?

Doubt it... The Miata is rear-wheel drive, Protege is front wheel drive. Everything will be in the wrong place.

The 1.6 is the same engine as the 323GT-X which was a turbo with the transverse mounted engine. Maybe find a wrecked one and get the turbo setup? Check Mazmart in Atlanta... www.mazmart.com

YES it will fit with some minor modifying, the main issue was the turbo mounts on top of the mani, but recently it has been fit into a MX3 as well as a Pro, so it should fit. you will just have to fab or have someone fab up a downpipe.

most common is taking the exhaust mani from the GTX like what was said and making your own kit. you could do it for under 700 bucks if you find all the rite parts.

so aftermarket parts...such as camshafts, extractors, underdrive pulleys can't work with myy engine?

i see that the performance companies made aftermarket parts for the b6 whcih was for the miata. Can these parts work on My b6?

I know the turbo kit will work but i may need to get a custom exhaust mani made.

Camshafts will fit with no problem. However, that's not to mention the fact that they are tuned to match the Miata's intake/exhaust manifolds. The design of the FWD manifold is quite different than that of the Miata's. It's hard to say what, if any, gains you'd get from the stock or any modified Miata camshaft. Additionally, there is an odd-ball DOHC head design that was used on some of the US MX-3s where the distributor (simplistically, the CAS for the Miata) is located on the exhaust side of the head as opposed to the intake side of the head Miata's (and A-spec 323 GT/X) head.

As far as the underdrive pully is concerned, that is also hard to say without seeing how your accessory drive pully is attached. Haphazardly, I'm willing to say that a Miata underdrive pully will work.
