so I'm looking in my engine bay because I lost two of the plastic plugs that hold the hood liner on and about 3 to 4 inches under the throttle body there is a round shaped part that is marked with the DSM symbol (mitsubishi) what's that all about

Mitsubishi has several divisions other than automotive. They also manufacture semicondors and electronic devices. Not uncommon at all.

Yeah, not uncommon...my 83 Volvo had many parts stamped with the GM logo. It's much cheaper for a company to use an existing part from another company then to put the money into R&D / manafacturing costs, to develop their own.
