WTF Kia Spectra5????????

Here ya go

oh, the 140hp stock on those cars, is most likely gonna lose any gains over the P5 due to poor design in the tranny, and drivetrain...In fact, I'll pretty much guarantee you it will be lost.

Check it out...

Between the top of the front fender and the top of the hood is about 6 inches of sheetmetal.

MUCH better(IMO)
See how the P5 looks lower and more light-weight?

To each his own, but I absolutely HATE the trend of big, fat front ends. It all started with the PT Cruiser and from there came the Matrix/Vibe "tall wagon" look. Maybe I'm old school, but I think lower + wider =better looking. :)

hehe, that's why I PS's a little extra width into my sig. ;)

EDIT: (enguard) OK. I'll admit it. NO one at all makes a good looking little wagon for under 20k.

Oh, they stopped alright. We can already get a Matrix/Vibe/mini-minivan at several different dealerships. No one makes a low-slung good handling(and looking) wagon for under 20,000 dollars...except :( Kia.
I hear ya man! The 3 is suppossed to handle just as good as the P5, but I think they gave it more of a luxury slant than sports car. I've only had my 5 for a year, but I'm pretty sure I'll end up with a Legacy wagon or something when I decommission the 5. I plan on keeping it a good 8 years or so. Hopefully I can afford an STi Legacy wagon by then!!!

Sorry, i'll keep my P5 and if that was out when i bought this (knowing what i know now about russell mazda) I would have bought it, cyke, I would have still bought my car but at a diff stealership.

I agree. :) I've also been secretly liking Subies lately.

I really like the minivan dash on the Kia. It looks like the center console is an afterthought!

Natey - I think the P5 looks much better than the 3. They should have refreshed the P5, swapped the motor out, and put 17's on it. But the corporate bosses wouldn't have it. The P5 was already out for 3 years before it came here (if I remember right), and the Mazda and Volvo are both owned (partially) by Ford, so they had to bow to Ford's wishes. Hence all the platform sharing.

Honestly, I enjoy driving an unknown car. I get people trying to figure out what it is all the time. They get really pissed when I talk to them and tell them they can't buy it anymore -- there may be some, but I'm not telling anyone!! ;)

I was checking out a used Outback Limited wagon before my visit to the Mazda dealer. It cost the same, but I wasn't ready to sell out my "sports car" soul just yet. Once I have a 1978-80 911SC in the garage for sunny days, then I won't care much about my daily driver.

Now that Subie is dropping the turbos into the Legacy's I'm hoping for a Legacy GT version with a turbo. (naughty) I won't know which I'll end up with until I see how the Mazda is running and I have 15 grand in the bank...that will take a few years!

mcstark: i know hyundai has picked up alot on quality. There's a reason why they can offer a 10 year warranty. I doubt any car can go 10 years without breaking anything, but im sure that if hyundai knew their cars were bad and would break down within 2 years, they wouldnt offer that kind of warranty. I also like the tiburon (older model better than the new one but anyway) and if i had to buy a small car for winter or something, id definetely get an accent. Looks "ok" and is really really cheap. I was just making fun of the comment "value line of hyundai" since even though hyundai isnt that bad, they're not great cars with high price tags, but they still have a value line hehe.

Who's associated with Lada ? lol

I don't know if anyone wants to be associated with Lada!!! *LOL*

Yeah, I find it kinda funny that you can buy an Elantra for like $14k, but if that's not cheap enough you can buy a Spectra sedan. I guess a used Civic would be out of the question for that particular buyer....

Kia - When you absolutely, positively gotta have a new car!

That wagon looks hideous.

Lada??!

Look at this SEX MACHINE!!

i don't think kia sources suzuki engines, if anything, they source engines from *gasp* Mazda or develops in-house...
Suzuki uses engines from either GM or Toyota (correct me if I am wrong).

Kia is a subsidiary of Hyundai -- it's their "value" line.
Exactly!

Get used to the 5 door phenomenon. Mazda was the leader, and there will be plenty of followers.
I always thought Subaru Impreza sport wagon (WRX and Outback) and PT Cruser from Dodge were the leader of this trend especially Subrau. Then comes Mazda, then comes Toyota (Matrix), them comes Ford (Focus ZX5), then comes Suzuki (Aero & Spectra).

value line of Hyundai ... godthat sounds horrible
Well, look at it in another prespective. Their cars are so cheap that everytime you have an accident, you will get a new car to drive because the possiblity of "total loss" is so high (low price + poor crash withstanding quality).

Natey...Mazda didn't stop, just picked up with the 3. Although I think they also moved the price upmarket a bit.

Metal...Hyundai is really moving upmarket. Their reliability has really come around and people are really starting to embrace their cars. Hyundai is just trying to hold on to their roots by selling Kia's based on their price.
Yep, I would take a Hyundai XG V6 over the current model of Camry or Accord any time.

I actually like Vibe, only if they can make it 1 or 1 and a half size smaller, and lower. Then it would be a real match to our P5.
The existing Vibe is too damn big, kind of like a 3some cross over of minivan/SUV/wagon.

Anyone seen the BBC Tow Gear show that they turn the Lada to a team of Lotus engineers to transform the POS into a RSOB.
That Lada owner is a real lucky guy.
