I am getting desperate and EBAY is not working for me. I am looking for a Socket A MOBO that supports AGP 4X and I'd prefer pc 133. I have an AMD XP 2600 that will be going in it. My old mobo caps decided do blow. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well apprently you can find anything on this forum. I no longer need a motherboard but if people have personal experiences about exploding caps on their motherboards and want to vent go for it. I have replaced about 15 motherboards and 1 graphics card that had the infamous exploding/bulging caps for other people. What a pain in the ass!

damn just saw this... I have one too.

oh wells.... LMK if theres anything else youre lookin for, I have too many computer parts just laying around as is.

Never had a problem with bulging caps on any of the PC's I've built. If it did happen, I would probably try and solder a new cap on if the spacing isn't too tight for hand-soldering.

I tried the resoldering thing and its a pain in the ass. I didn't have a hot enough iron plus the caps cost about 15-20 dollars to do the whole board, and its not guaranteed to fix it. I have worked on computers that had bulging caps on from manufacturers like Epox, MSI, Gigabyte and Dell GX 270's are very well known for this. Also the one video card that had them was a Geforce brand video car. If you want more info go to badcaps.net or just google with you make model of your mobo or computer for bad caps. It will pop up very quickly if they are known for it.

Just to be curious, why would you want to rebuild a system around an old 2600+, especially when you have a mainboard to replace? Wouldn't it be better to just move on to a PCI-e system? AGP is pushing up daisy's, and a whole new era of video cards are 2 months away.

Computer runs great. I am planning on buying a new system when Windows Vista comes out so I just wanted to hang on to this for a couple of more months. I will have it back working for around 50 dollars and will be able to run it for another couple of years as a server when I get my new system with Vista. If I upgraded the mobo and if I wanted to do it right I would need to get a new video card thats pci express, sata drive, new memory. Just wanted to get it working on the cheap and that I did.
