Is there anybody interested in selling there oem navi from there speed3? My speed3 did not come with one as an option since i live in canada so i want to get one now. So if someone is thinking of upgrading there oem navi to aftermarket i am willing to buy there oem one. Or does anyone know of where i can buy an oem navi system for my speed3?

This is almost impossible to install. It uses a different wiring harness.

im sorry could you please elaborate on the wiring harness? if i would like to get the navi installed i would have to change out my wiring harness? but what does the wirring harness control, all electrical?

Yes, it is electrical. The factory nav is integrated into a number of things in the car. The main wiring harness is different. You will be much better off with an aftermarket one.

Besides the OEM one is so frigging expensive!
~$1700 invoice
Personally I opted to spend that money on cooler gadgets (cellphone with GPS comes to mind) and a better stereo.

If you didn't get the navigation system originally then you're not going to want to install it now. The price difference may be $1700 at the dealer, but the parts alone cost well over $2,000.

Similarly in 2005 (in the US) HIDs were a separate package which cost about $900-1000 more. The HID headlight housing alone costs $815 each.

To install you would have to remove the entire dashboard and replace the wiring harness from basically the firewall back. It's very money and labor intensive.

Go with an aftermarket GPS system instead. No it won't flip up from the dash but it will be portable, more functional, and more easily updatable. Or you could get a GPS system and then get the flip up monitor from www.thexenonstore.com and plug it in. It'll still cost you less.

Woah, that a sweet screen for the Mazda3... though if you only have the factory radio and you install that screen that "The Xenon Store" sales, what function will the screen give you...? I guess you would need to buy a DVD player/GPS head-unit...?

I have been looking into aftermarket navi systems and they all come with there own head unit. I am interested in getting the flip up from the dash for 800$ but no navi that i have yet found would be opperational from that flip unit. Also can anyone confirm that the other speed3's dont have the wiring harness for a navigation system? and it could be just sitting there unused like the wirring for heated side mirrors?

People have uninstalled and looked for the whole wiring harness, there is an extra harness in there but from what Ive read theres 2 more needed or something?

You could buy the lower half of a Laptop, put Navi on that, have that be able to play your Dvds and install it in the glove box or somthing, if that monitor is compatable with that which I think it would be....(2thumbs)

My girlfriends brother did that in his Dsm, he's got Dsm link and navi running from the lower half of the laptop that is installed in his trunk, and he has the screen installed where the Oem Tape player was.... ONLY thing is he has a touch screen so he can easily navigate the computer from the drivers seats. Seems to work good, I could ask him about details if youd like.. Might be a little different though if its not touch screen, maybe some sort of wireless control could be made, not exactly a mouse but something.

Has anybody hear removed there oem navi or even had to take some things apart to take a look and see what is all involved yet. Im not to concerned about price, i just want to know what is everyting i need to do it. i dont want to end up buying one and then half way in the install find out that i dont have a certain piece. I am really interested in finding as much about this oem navi as i can. My dealer said if i can find one on ebay go for it but he has no idea what is all involved in the change over.

The oem navi has controls to the right of the shifter as well as a recess in the dash so it can fold away. I would not even want to imagine the difficulty of putting a oem navi into a speed3 that did not come with it. Insanity comes to mind. haha.
