WTB!! Need an IHI VF22 Turbo

I toasted my Hiboost IHI VF22 after slightly whining for the past year it died yesterday. Pulled it apart pressed the shaft out and pieces of the bearing cage came out!

I am waiting on a call back from turboparts.com for a center cartridge but if anyone knows where to find one let me know.

I just finished re-building my tranny $1300 for parts and this is the last thing I needed to happen!

PM sent and WTB listed over there also.
I just sent out e-mails to over 20 IHI distributors and the best I got back was new turbo assembly for $1080 SUCKS!!

Anyone else have some direction to point me in??

IHI's are generally considered non-rebuildable turbos - AFAIK.

If you had caught it sooner you could have just got a center cartridge for it and keep the "Snails" from the old one, But It sounds like you probably did a number on it...

I replaced my center for $500.00 basically making it a brand new turbo..

What's making you guys kill those vf22's? Granted my vf34 is a newer center cartridge design, but I know there are people using vf22's on Subies and I haven't really heard of anyone killing them.

I had a slight oil leak one night on my way to my buddies at the return line flange under the turbo. In the dark with a flashlight I pulled off the flange and added apparently too much permatex ultragrey and it sqeezed to the inside just enough to restrict flow. It has been 4 years and the last year my turbo was whining just the slightest bit louder and then BAM DEAD!

Thanks Micah just ordered the last one from Gruppe-S for $799.
The best price I had from an IHI distributor was $946.

Bump if anyone knows if my new turbo will be using the same WGA spring. My old VF22 had an 8psi spring. I sent an e-mail to Gruppe-s but they are 2 hours behind me.
