Then forget about the swap, sorry.

Not necessarily. My SE (DX equivilant in Canada) didn't come with a tach either. I bought one used off of carparts.com and all I did was plug in the 3 harnesses and everything was good to go. The milage changed, but everything else works. Not saying it will work for his swap, because there has been others that have tried it and it didn't work. The tach signal is the purple/white wire (on the middle harness I believe). If you have that wire already, you should be good to go.

You can put in an aftermarket tach, but putting in the MSP gauge cluster is not plug and play into the DX.

Yes it is. The only problem is if the tach wire isnt already there then he has to run a wire for the dianostic port. Everything works except the high beam indicator. And if he doesn't have abs the abs light will go no.

Your milage will be different and that makes it illegal too. I am just going by what I've been told by SpicyMcHaggis.

Not illegal if you get the milage documented at the DMV. they give you a sticker and paper work, stating all milages.

I spoke to SpicyMchaggis before engaging in this venture. And he said that it would be plug and play.I know the mileage will be different but I can deal with that like jster28 said . But I spoke to SpicyMchaggis and he said it was plug and play. Man now I am scared but I guess we will see.

you are teh wrong william. The mileage won't match because of the different board style. But the tach is part of the harness, it's plug and play. Just the mileage wont' match. There is NO way around the mileage. Well, there is, but I'm not going to go into details on how to do it.

Oh, I guess that's what you were bitching about then. Carry on with the swap.
