WTB: Mazda MP3

I have looked at a few this week, with no luck. Very god deals, but I am just way picky about some stuff. Anyways, while looking my wife has fallen in love with the Protge5. So now I am open to buy a nice P5 too. So if anyone is looking to sell let me know. Must be clean and a stick shift thanks.

;)

Hit me up. 2001 Yellow MP3. It's not without its issues, but it runs great. Car has ~ 125k miles. Motor was replaced @ 88k miles, trans @115k miles. Oil changes every 3-5k. New transmission that was swapped in does not have the speedometer gear (it came from a car with ABS) so the speedo/odometer are inoperative.

Wing was removed but I have still have it and all of the hardware. Front passenger quarter panel was replaced after a minor accident (nothing structural) but was never paint matched. Has a Short shifter, mazdaspeed knob; OBX header, SLS midpipe, & I still have the factory exhaust system that was in fine working condition when I removed it @ 100k miles. Tokico Illuminas, RSR race springs, still have the factory Tokico Blues w/ ~100k miles on them as well. Endlinks are all pretty new (oem replacements w/ less than 10k miles) Rear sway bushings replaced ~20k miles ago. front sway-bar needs bushings replaced, and has the infamous "CLUNK". (I have new OEM bushings, they just need to be installed) VIS evo style CF hood & real DGM CF grille, I still have the factory grille as well. Aftermarket Panasonic HU.

I'm obviously not looking to get $4k for it, if your interested, make me an offer. I'm simply ready for a new car, bored after 3+ years with the same thing, lol. Never had a car this long. I'm willing to let it go for cheap, just don't low-ball too crazy, ha.

This is an older shot of the rear

This is from this last summer, July 09' IIRC.

This is also July 09' IIRC.

I'll see if I can get some more comprehensive pics taken. I think I actually have my gf's p&s camera sitting around my place somewhere...

This link should work to my photobucket... I don't have much there, but you should be able to see bigger versions of whatever I do have.

Looks promising. If you can get some updated pics that would be great. Are those the original rims painted or do you still have the stock ones? Is it possible to fix the speedometer?

They are the original rims, painted black. They need to be resurfaced, there is some curbing and the paint is flaking in spots. The car needs some love for sure.

The speedometer can be fixed. Best option is to install the pink speedo gear in the transmission for the sensor to get a reading from. I never really priced it out to be honest, but the gear is relatively inexpensive (~$35, IIRC). And from what I've been told, the install wouldn't be too difficult, I'm not sure if the trans would need to be dropped or not, tho.

That or swap in a transmission that already has the speedo gear installed, this would also work.

Okay. Well as long is it runs good, and doesn't have any rust on it. I can deal with the other stuff a little at a time. Just put up some pics, then we can talk $.

K, I'll take some pics when I get home from work tonight. There are a few minor rust spots. Surface rust around the rear driver side wheel well and a small spot on the bottom of the inside of the drivers door. They just need to be sanded/cleaned and painted. They are very minor spots, hardly noticeable and won't be a problem if handled soon. They both showed up after last winter.

Here is a link to an Album I just made from pictures I took in my driveway earlier. Just to note, I haven't cleaned the interior or exterior since probably around September... Its pretty dirty, haha. But it will give you a good idea of what shape its in (63 photos in all).

Exterior has the two small spots by the rear wheel wheels with minor rust. There are close ups of both sides'. Front lip has a split in the middle as well; a raccoon decided to run out in front of me last summer :( Passenger side has a fair amount of body work needed. Rear end has several scuffs as well. I got rear-ended lightly by someone without insurance last summer also. It was less than my deductible to fix it and I wasn't bothering with it... You can see the outline of their license plate in my bumper tho. Rims all need resurfaced. HU has a crack in the face-plate (I just use my ipod hooked into the aux so it doesn't bother me much). If you have any other questions hit me up.

It doesn't look that bad actually. It needs more work & TLC than I am willing to give it. You shouldn't have any trouble selling it though as long as the price it right.

Cool, I laid awake last night thinking about it, and I don't think I could have sold the mp3 right now anyways. Economically & emotionally, lol.
