WTB H&R Springs

Looks really good Davicho. I'd like to know how well you like the HR's compared to the Megans you had before if you don't mind. After you've driven it for a bit.

Loosenut and anyone else that cares to know. So I got my H&R springs installed professionally by my Honda Tech brother on Wednesday. I took a 975 mile round trip this last weekend from here in Claremont up to Davis and back to drop off my wife's brother at UCD. I am so happy with these H&R springs that I can't believe why I even tried Megans in the first place. However, having said that I am glad I did try the Megans because now I can give you guys an honest review of the difference between MR and H&R springs. Note that I am using the exact same original front OEM struts and rear KYB G-A-J shocks.

Megan Racing springs seem to drop the height a tiny bit more all around. However, the front seems to be even lower then the rear giving it a much more pronounced rake. If this is the look you are going for then MR is your choice.

H&R springs drop the height pretty evenly with just a tiny bit of rake. I personally prefer the even sporty lower stance then the "dumpped" racy rake look.

Megan Racing springs do ride a lot harsher and firmer as opposed to the near OEM "firmer" feel of the H&R springs. MR springs tend to make the front OEM struts bottom out and hit harshly on rough road. H&Rs seem to have better poise and rebound rates that take on rough section a lot better and not bottom out the front OEM struts.

Lastly, Megan Racing springs although very nice bright orange color were simply powder coated. H&R springs are also powder coated but they seem to also have a rubberized feel to them making them a lot more durable to the elements and prevent or minimize noise.

All in all, I am very pleased with the overall performance and quality of the H&R springs and I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting to use them to lower their MZ5. I would definitely advice to anyone that you pay the extra money ~$100 and buy the H&R over the MR springs. One bonus point is that the wife didn't even notice the difference in ride firmness, she is also not very observant of anything car related other then the low gas light, so if she is not nagging about the ride I'm happy even more.

This is simply my subjective review between the MR and H&R springs solely based on my experience and by no means am I bad mouthing MR the company or its products. If you have and love your MR springs then that's all that matters. PEACE!

Thank you, Davicho. As far as I know you are the only person to bave run both Megans and H&R so your assessment is very valuable to me. You've confirmed what I figured the difference between the two was. I'm pretty happy with the Megans but if the family ever starts to complain about a harsh ride I may switch to the H&Rs.

Looks awesome.

If your brother wants to install mine for me, I would be happy to pay him.

I am going to be on all OEM struts though. Do you think rear KYB are necessary?

I don't think it is necesary to install KYB in the rear. I simply had replaced mine a few months ago because I wanted a more firm feel. My brother works at Rock Honda in Fontana so I will ask him if he is willing to do it. He took my MZ5 a night before and drove to work the next morning in it. He then did the install after hours when his shift was done. I dont know how that would work out for you. Unless he is willing to do it at home on his back and without power tools. I'll let you know.

Drop looks goid. Im still debating wether to get springs or coilovers. How much finger gap all around?

I love the looks and was considering them before. But where I live I can't afford to even lose an inch in height. Currently my car is riding monster truck style on Bilsteins. I wish there was an option of stiffer linear springs that keep stock height.
