wrx.

You're gonna lose.. If he doesnt launch, you'll have a better chance, but if he even attempts to launch it, you're done for.. A stock WRX with a good driver can get into the 14s.. A MSP cant do that..

also, I got beat by a bone stock 02 type-s from a roll.. From 40-70.. I got the jump on him, but he was reeling me in pretty damn fast.. He was passing me at 70 (he was going at least 75) but there was a car in his lane so he slowed down and got over..

That's different then my experience. I spanked an RXS type s on the freeway a couple years ago with just cs exhaust and hardpipes at stock boost. I'm assuming thats what car you are talking about. Two nites ago I walked all over about a 97 4 door golf. Not sure about the engine but it was fun killing him. I wasn't looking to race. He got on my ass and flashed his brights at me. Then when I didn't budge he got in front of me he slammed on his brakes. So I got pissed and walked on him. We went three times and each time he was way behind me after 3rd gear. What an idiot.

I dunno. More power, more torque(?), more traction...

Plus. the more recent ones displace 2.5 liters.

my friend is a 2002 so it's a 2 liter.
2.0liter..i think you'd have a chance. on stock everything they're boosting 14-16psi IIRC, so.. the awd feature is a good one, sometimes, but also, can be bad, cuz they bog bad on bad launches. i think you could do it.

Yea, he has a rsx-s.. I dont know whats up with his car, its a freak I guess.. but then again, my motor blew up a few days after we raced..

another turbocharged car i can understand beating a msp..

but like a Type-s ? a N/A 2 liter with like what ? 135 lbs of torque? and is as heavy as a msp if not more? and is stock? even if it has 6 speed and is geared shorter for that.. i don't think it could spank me..

but i admit if the dude lowered his V-tec rpm ( a friend of mine did in his H22A civic) and full exaust and intake and timing.. yeah i guess he could.. but surely not a stock car. my firends civic H22 put out 160 lbs of torque at like 4500rpm or soemthing when stock.. but when he played with EM, it was a diffrent car. he got to low 14s with no spray or boost. oh and it's a 1998 4 door civic..not a hatch.

the reason i have trouble believe this ( unless he the type S was NOt stock) is the fact that i spanked a spec V.. not by much, but enough to say i was pulling away in second and third. it still has 175 HP and 170 lbs of torque and is geared with shorter ratio which theorectically, should help him acelerate better.

the wrx, i can understand..but now a stock type s....im gonna have to try that out..

i was going to get a wrx but settled for a msp the looks was the main reason and when i drove a wrx it was pretty quick i would say he would hand you your ass from a stop and from a roll he would just pull on ya so either way he would win.

my friend has a gt-s 2000 celica and it would be a close race and his brother has an rsx-s and it beat the celi so ya know it would beat us too.

the rsx is an pretty amazing car for what it is. I had 2 spec-v's before my MSP and the spec is not nealy as fast as the type s (my friend has one and he ran a 15.3 stock while my stock spec v got 16 flat)...only way the spec v can keep up to the type s is if you were to do I/H/E because those cars have a very restrictive intake and exhaust system and some money into breathing on those cars goes a long way

as for the wrx, another friend of mine has a 06 wrx and he got it to 14.8 stock...keep in mind we are at higher altitude here in calgary that you folks in the states so our times are slower

I know its hard to believe buts its true.. His car is a freak as we found out friday night.. He raced my other friends type-s (who has a cai) and pulled on him as well.. He now has a sri and a slipping clutch, but he still managed to pull on my friends car as hard as he did me.. Type s' have 200hp and 140 ft-lbs..

Also lowering the vtec engagement would make it slower.. It would raise the hp but lower the tq.. HP sounds cool, but TQ wins races..

Also Spec-V's are high 15 sec cars stock.. I dont know WTF nissan did when making those cars, but they sure screwed up badly.. A stock type-s vs a i/h/e spec-v would be a drivers race from a stop.. From a roll, the type-s would definately win.. The K-series takes so well to mods its not even funny.. Basic upgrades will net just under 200whp..

I beat an 05wrx at a 1/8th track, he red light bad but I was able to catch him in the end. He had at least 3-4 cars on me before I took off. I was running a CAI, 8psi and an axle back HKS muffler at the time. The look on the guys face was the icing on the cake.

then how come a Type s wins? (sssh)
A type-s will when depending on how you run the race. For instance when I raced my buddies 2000 prelude (he had intake/exhaust, I had no catback) I pulled a car on him if we went from a 40 roll. I win because my turbo spools before he can get any benefits from vtec. Even though he was probably make more power than me I get more of my power sooner. Top end is where he would start to catch me.
