Yeah so some assbag decided not to yield in a parking lot and came barging out and I smashed him going like 30ish mph.
-Bad news is hes out of state and didnt have a CA license or insurance or someshit
-His s*** drove away.
-My P5 is pissing oil in its pants from the front passanger side, all over the pulleys, so not too sure what thats all about
-I smashed him T bone, and he was going from passanger side across to the driver side when I hit him, and it tweaked the front of my car a few degrees' and my driver side door opens but only 1\2 way. My header survived, but the radiator is pushed in to withing 4"or so inches of it, getting out will be a b**** if its totaled.
-I just spent the time to paint my headlights black, and they are smashed. (im just looking for sympathy on this one, there is nothing worse than spending time on a project then having it ****** up w\in a week)

So basically im just curious to those who have been in accidents, what constitutes a car being totalled? Ill try to get pictures, it happend while I was taking some product to another store and was in the parking lot of the store I just left. At least I wasnt driving the owners car, he asked why I just didnt take his brand new armada right before i left. I jinxed myself by saying, " I dont wanna have something happen to your car" and after that I left. and smash w\in 1 min of saying that. what a ******* day.

If its not totalled how would I go about getting a C\F hood instead of the OEM one?

So much for parking away from people so I didnt get door dings and s***, god dammit all that hard work gone in a half second.

let me find pics of my accident....my radiator was bent around the ex housing of my turbo, like 13000 in damage.... they fixed it though. if you dont want stock parts just talk to the body shop where you are getting it fixed, just ask them if you can substitute some aftermarket parts instead of oem! do this as soon as the insurance company says they are going to fix it , before the bodyshop orders any parts

Car is totaled if there's major frame damage, tons of body panels that need replacement, or major suspension/engine damage. Of course that's a generalization.

Getting a C/F hood all depends on the insurance company. If they will reimburse a body shop to do all the work, then you can try to ask the guys at the bodyshop if they could order a C/F hood instead of an OEM one. Do NOT mention anything about that to the insurance company.

How does your car drive after having it like that? Im horrified that its gonna drive like a piece of s*** and never drive the same.... if its totalled then oh well, ill be sad to let her go, but wrx here I come. If shes not totalled, oh well, ill be happy to have her still. I just dont want to have a retarded car that feels like its driving sideways

YAY forum is working again, anyone else not able to get on it last night?

me to i couldnt get on but your car looks like it might get totalled good luck

Looks like the hood took the brunt of it with your car, I hit the guy right behind the driver seat, (small x cab tacoma) so it wasnt like my hood got lifted. Man such mixed emotions with it all, ill be sad yet excited for it if I get it totalled out, WRX here I come. How trendy I know, but still, if not, then its going to be the same, sad yet happy because I will hopeflly get my cf hood etc. Which hood to go with? is the hood that NIV was dealing with looks like what I want...

Not necessarily true. For example, flooded cars tend to be "totalled" but its mostly due to the excessive cost to repair in relation to the value of the car.

Most insurance companies will call the repair/total threshold at about 70% to 80%.

If I were you, nitpick about everything that you see wrong. A lot of body shops (that then give the estimate to the insurance companies) overlook things. I was going to get my car back last week but I found like 15 things wrong with their repair. I told them to take it back and do it right.

Good luck.

HAHA man Im starting to feel like that crazy b**** who locked her kids in the car and drove into the lake now.... I dont think I could intentionally hurt my 5. Ive just heard horror stories of people who had cars fixed, but never ran the same, werent reliable, etc etc. So im pretty nervous about it.

Dude I am looking for a P5 Bumper to see iF I can Mold it onto My 99, which would be the First one ever that i know about.. So If your Insurance Company is going to get you Some New bumpers and Fenders and whatnot, Can I Buy yours From you??

PM lemme know Thanks

I grieved last night. If in fact it is totalled you better believe im going to be ripping that thing apart as best I can. OBX header, ebay CAI, TWM SS. Kartboy bushing, HKS axleback... wont do me any good with the new car I already have in mind.

And the vultures appear....

it's quite sad actually, everytime I see the word "accident" or "totalled" i think "parts"...

sorry about your car. i got into an accident with my p5 within 2 weeks of buying the car... I feel your pain. hope everthing works out for ya.

Not Vultures, but noone wants/has a P5 bumper skill to Sell, i can't find one In Canada, or i should say around me at all. Sorry to hear about the Car, I would hate for it to happen to anyone, not jsut someone with a Mazda, but if Insurance is gonna pay for all damages, why not get a couple extra bucks, its not in Perfect condition so noone else is gonna want it, So i am hoping that there would not be a problem.

Sorry for any confusion or Anger anyone would have against that.

Peace

No worries I took no offense to it, I just hate waiting for the claim to go thru etc, thats the only thing im frustrated with now. Ill see what they say about taking OEM parts off the car if its to be totalled. You better believe ill have my aftermarket shlt back.

Update Update

Car was not totalled. After thinking about it, im glad it was not. They are getting rarer and rarer, and after driving the piece of s*** focus and my friends scion TC for a few days I dont think I would be happy in either of those cars. The WRX of course would have been nice, but financially probably not a good investment for me at this time. So about 6 grand worth of damage.

-To the person who wanted my bumper, Its yours, as long as you are willing to pay the shipping, or if you are local, you are more than welcome to pick it up.

-I also went with the Gemini Composites reverse cowel hood, for a few hundered bucks I figured since I was going to do this anyway, now is the time since it will be a few hundred cheaper this way.

-If anyone else wants anything please let me know ASAP because I am calling the shop tomorrow to remind the guy to save a few parts. I think my old mazda emblem will be a new wall piece for my room.
-Parts that are already reserved for friends etc, are the headlight housings, and the lower grille. the upper grille was destroyed in the accident.
