hmm i decided to take my car out for a spin tonight to see my new bulbs' illumination.(didnt drive at night for awhile)a few weeks ago me and my dad swapped out the stocks and put in some silverstars.while driving,i noticed a big difference over the stocks(stocks were having a yellowish tinge to it)anywayz when i was coming back home my dad was watching the cars come down the street and he saw a bright light and knew it was me.lol.later he asked me if i were using the high beams.i couldnt really believe it so i asked my dad to drive my car for a bit so i can see the lights from a distance.i couldnt believe how bright they were from about half a mile up the street lol.i saw the stocks ones b4 and they looked so ugly yellow tingy.i looked at the other cars coming down the street and compared to my silverstars i was like whoa.its the only thing i got till i actually save up some money for HIDs but i was impressed.heh well just thought i'd say something because i dont really post things up here on the forums lol.i heard that these things blow out quite a bit but i dont do alot of night driving yet cause i just got my license so i cant say hehe.*knock on wood*

o i have a question i tried looking up but couldnt find..has any1's wireharnesses melted from silverstars? i read that some people's do wit other brand but maybe i never looked up silverstars hard enough?

as long as you keep the same wattage, your wires should be okay.

my silverstars blew out in 3 months. but i did 50% of my driving at night. either way, 3 mo. was too short for me and so i later got some bad apc hyper whites that looked just like the silverstars and held on for the remaining 2 years i had the p5.

keep the same wattage as in not use bulbs higher than the stock 55watts?or find a way to stabilize the current?i read that grounding kits or headlight harnesses are two options.any more options out there? thanks in advance xD

heh i was thinking of getting HIDs but i'm a bit low on cash.still a student and trying to find a part time job lol but i cant wait to get them hehe.

Good luck!
All the Silverstar bulbs I have put on my P5 so far (3 pairs) never last longer than 3 months. And they cost $40 a pair plus tax. The only reason I bought them before both my bulbs were gone and only Silverstars were avaliable near me. Most $11 bucks (shipping included) white/blue bulbs from Ebay last much longer than Silverstars and much brighter as well.

You guys are nuts! I've owned silverstars in all my vehicles for the last 3 years. My wife's car is on its 2nd pair. I owned my truck for a year, and the siverstars that I put in it on day 2 of ownership lasted all the way through. I've had them in the p5 since september and they still look good.

I do a lot of night driving, and I usually use my lights during the daytime as well. I guess that it's different for everyone.

Oh boy...not another aftermarket bulb debate. Simple fact is that some bulbs will last longer than others. There are many variables and circumstances that equate into the life of a bulb. Please proceed though if you really want to.

I will by saying that I installed my silverstars right before I got my exhaust which was around the end of May 06. All three sets. Haven't had one problem. I guess folks aren't letting the car idle for a while after they install them with on. That is the key, I hear.

I have Silverstars in my VUE- going on 2.5 years with those. The Silverstars in my Protege are about a year old now. Never let either car idle after I installed them- just made sure to not touch the glass with my fingers while installing them.

Yup...same here. Though one did blow out in my Acura after 4 months.

silverstars are crap. besides being whiter (and do you really care about whether they are white or yellow from inside the car?) than the originals they don't last as long and do not shine as well imho. my stock ones were on the car for more than 4 years. one of my silverstars went out after a year and 2 months. and they cost $40. no thank you, not for me.

+1 I love mine, though they do burnout after about 4-5 months

I replaced both headlights & fogs with silverstars on my P5. Love them. I must admid they don't last long. One year warranty here up in Canada @ Crappy Tire sure is a bonus.

2 sets of silverstars, neither lasted more than 2-3 months. Never had any problems with the stock bulbs since Ive had the car.

Do you have DRL on your car? If so, disconnect............(glare)

Yes, infact I do care. Everything looks so much clearer with the Silverstars. Of course visual perception varies among individuals, but in my line of work I need pay very close attention to color variances, and to that I say the Silverstars work great for what they are worth. So...I'll say it again...this debate has been discussed over and over again. Write what you will, it's all personal preference.

osram silverstars

mine is going strong past 6 months, with a clean white lite. i heard the sylvania silverstars are lame. i started with the mtec blue caps and really liked the look but these burnt the connnector. so i bought the hd connector on ebay , same thing, with stock wattage. one day i'll try again still got the bulbs and new hd connector.
