my evo is my DD and i honestly don't think the ride is that harsh. especially with my soft sidewall winter tires on, but even with the stock tires it's not terrible. it's basically like any car with stiffer springs put on it, which plenty of people still drive daily. it's no cadillac, but it's definitely suitable for a daily driver

alot of guys run coilovers on their DDs and I can't believe the Evo or STi are any worse

DAMN! Those prices are great! The Mitsu dealer I visited today was nuts, trying to defend their MR for $35K lecturing me about how the last model year is going to be worth alot some day, yada yada yada. He even made me laugh when he told me some guy from across the country bought the last three Sstarions they had (back in the 80s) and he thinks they're now worth $50K each. I wish I had the drugs this guy was on.

quite a few guys on the board have bought from them from all over the country. they're happy to work with anyone on shipping and even after having it shipped a lot of times it's still cheaper than what the local dealers are charging, all without any hassle. it's good to bring those prices in as a bargaining point with your dealer if you're looking to go new. the 9 only had 1 model year, so obviously it's going to be the last :) pricing because it's going to be worth a lot someday even though you're planning on using it as a DD is stupid, you should explain to him that cars with 100k+ miles on them don't typically hold resale value real well :)

Actually I paid MSRP back in 2003 but it was also May of 2003 and the car had only been out a couple of months. It's funny, they said "what do you want to pay?" and I said "$1.00". So the guy looks at me and rolls his eyes so I said "The price is right there... MSRP." then he told me it was a limited edition and I said "Then you don't need me buying it, some rich guy will." so they gave me MSRP.

Jred How do you drive around with snow packed in every hole of the fascia? (laugh) Does the Intercooler & radiator at least melt the snow? (laugh) You look like you have snow packed in where the stock airbox pulls its air. Do you have an aftermarket intake?

I would take the EVO if you know the history of the car and the person who drove it. The ride quality thing would go out the window because I would put a stiffer suspension on either one.

back in 03 or when the 06s first came out MSRP was right. probably 6 months after each was released though invoice should have been the going price. the 06s have been out for about a year already, paying MSRP would be crazy :)

It's not that bad but my wife doesn't like it mostly because she has been driving a BMW 325i for the last 41 months and my car has the tein S-tech springs, so the ride is a little harsh. But now that she has the MS3 she is happier. She still loves my car though...just not as a DD.

it melted out of those holes just by sitting. as i was driving around i had a huge mound on my hood but there was a big hole in it right above the hood vent :) i have a stock intake, no problems sucking in air. in those pictures i was totally stock except for snow tires. this year i have a reflash and turbo back, so hopefully i'll lose traction a bit easier :)

Sorry but that is really funny.... Whose reflash did you get?

The msp is no more comfortable than the sti. I personally think the seats in the sti are a little more supportive.

Actually getting back to GAR's question "Used Evo or MS3" I'd go MSR as I would never be sure of what the previous owner did to the poor thing... But new I would go evo if I could afford it. And if you are going to deal Today and tomorrow are the BEST days. End of month & end of year. Push them for everything you can.

I got 400 off MSRP because I bought my MS3 two weeks ago. But it has only been out a few months anyway. If I had waited til today I probably could have gotten a better deal. The thing is I wanted Cosmic Blue and was a little worried as these things are selling quick...

dynoflash mail in but i drove down to their shop since it's only like an hour away and had big al do it in person

Hmph.... I never liked Al after the first day I met him. I went with Jestr. Either way a flash will really wake these cars up.

yea he's not super friendly or outgoing, but he does know how to tune :) i'm going to have him do my tuning just because of proximity. his shop is ~5 mins from my gf's parent's house, and pruven performance, where he works sometimes, is closer to me. after the flash though it was a big difference. and after the tbe is was a pretty big difference too. so within a month last year it was like i was driving 2 new cars :) come spring i get to play more with mods but this year nothing i'm doing will make it feel like a new car

I thought that too but I talked to another Mitsu dealer today and they are all starting at MSRP with apparently very little room to move down from there. They think b/c no more 06s are being made they can sit on them until they get their price. It didn't help that I wanted one without a wing and they only had on RS. Also, the no test drives thing bothers me (even on used models!). Maybe if you put down a deposit, promise your first born, etc. but it doesn't seem worth it to me just to spend $5-10K more than the MS3 I drove today and liked quite alot.
