Would You Buy A Mexican Made Mazda?

-- they can pollute to their heart's content.

this is sad but true

@GasSaver14

Just read the article about Mazda adding an engine machining factory to the mexican plant and then i would have to rethink, because your observations do fully apply there. If it was pure assembly it would not be an issue for me ... still i got mine which is still produced outside xD so, woot

It is still just my opinion, based on what I have seen. It could be the most awsome Mazda ever made. "the little train that could"

I would go with the safe bet on this one, but that is me. How many of you would install a Autozone fuel pump in your car?

No, I would try to avoid them, but I guess I would give in if I really had to. No offense to any Mexicans here on the forum, but Japanese people tend to be very hard-working people and strive to keep their family's reputation for such at all cost. I place Japan's quality of craftsmanship beyond that of Mexican, American, Canadian and Eastern European, and third to Swiss and German human labour. I've owned a mexican-built mk3 Golf Wolfsburg. It wasn't horrible, but it did have its quirks, especially in the electrics department. The germans had engineered it too complicated, and the mexicans didn't wire it properly.

Just for the record, my girlfriend is half Mexican, and her father was a very hardworking gentlemen, who's now retired.

VW has problems with the electrics even on those built in Wolfsburg in germany. In fact all "problems" that they have and there bad car mechanics that can't fix them is the main reason for why VW is ranked pretty low on owner satisfaction surveys in Europe. It should be quite high because of VWs strong brand good resale value but those problems has puttted VW quite far down.

But with all those manufacturs and cars being build in mexico that was listed there i don't think you have to worry about it. Even toyotas and honda i could see and toyota and honda are mostly known for reliable.. They can't let go of that, cause then they have nothing..

It is not about Race!!! But rather about Happy, Motivated people that care.

I'm sure North Korea death camp Laborers would not care about the reliability of the products they produce.

I'm not trying to offend anyone.

It is true that Honda and Toyota do make cars in Mexico. But according to my friend that works for Honda Engineering in Indianapolis Indiana on the Honda Accord. There are more QC problems that come from Mexico than from the Ohio Honda Accord plant.

Looks like the plant will come online "first quarter" in thie article. No new dates released since then? I may be picking up a 3 this week or next and I'm assuming no cars from Mexico have made it into circulation yet? All the other options I was considering were made in Mexico, so I'll still go with the 3, but just curious.

*edit* production has started, engines not up yet.

Yes, I would, but I won't buy vehicles from a factory for the first couple years, no matter where it is located.
When Nissan built a new factory years ago at a rural town in USA, they recruited many inexperienced workers to build Amada.
The end result, Amada was ranked the worst quality for a couple years. I almost bought an Amada.
Many assembly issues.

cars from Mexico were already shipped

My dealer was supposed to do a dealer trade for the car I want and it didn't end up going through. They told me there was one that had just landed on the dock that they were trying to get for me. I hope it was not from Mexico! Not because of location, but because it would be among the first "batch" from a location.

And now I'm nervous. Any idea when the first shipment went out? A shipment from Mexico to New England in few weeks seems do-able. I wonder if there is a way I can get the dealer to find out? I'll gladly change my request for a car on the lot vs a first production run from a new facility.
