Would these fit?

Hi Folks,
I just wanted to know if these size of a tire 205/50/16 would fit my stock rims?
I need to replace my tire I just need advise on which tire size to go with? 205/50/16 or 205/45/16 or just stay with the stock size 195/50/16

Thanks,

I'm planning on the 205/45/16...it keeps overall circumference closer to the stock wheel/tire package. I've seen the 205/50/16 and personally think the sidewalls make it look to big.

205 will fit, I'd go with 205/45's.

I would go with the 205/50-16... more or less the same overall diameter of my winter tires that are 195/60-15, which is basically the same diameter as the stock MP3 tires.

My winter rims and tires fill the wheel wells better than the stock tires do, and the 205/50-16's will do the same.

I have been thinking about Dunlop FM901's or some Hankook's... but my stock tires only have 6,000km's on them, with my winters having the other 7,000 that are on the car, and I want to use them up first. So I'll have to wait and see what is on the market for what price...

yeah, as stated the 205/50s fit.
I would go with a 205/50, it does look a bit odd at first but I'd rather rack up miles a bit slower.

I would stay with the stock size until you get bigger rims. if you do go with the stock rim use a 205/50/16 the 45 series is designed for 6.5in rim not a 6in rim.

I am running 205-50-16 Yoko AVS ES 100's with no problems at all in 10K miles. I love them. no problem at all with the wear or fit.

I just put on 205/45-16's Dunlop FM-901's B4 my car got totalled... see thread: http://msprotege.com/vbb225/showthread.php?t=71378

The tires handled great, and the sidewall height looked good too. I'd go w/ 45's, but if you want to go w/ 50's, it's your choice.

BTW... The second # in the tire size is the percentage of sidewall height, in relation to the width of the tire. Just do some math to figure out what size best mimics the OEM tire size (195/50-16).

The differences between the 195/50-16 and the 205/50-16 are not worth worrying about. But if everyone must know it represents an approximate 1.7% slower reading on the speedometer... when it reads 60mph, you are actually travelling 61mph. The sidewall height also increases by 0.2 inches.

Another basis I measure the difference by: the MP3 has a 205/45-17, and is almost exactly the same as the 205/50-16 in question. Since the MP3 and the MP5 are pretty much the same car... wheres the problem?

The 205-50-16 just looks awkward...the sidewall difference is noticeable. The 205-45-16 is a much better fit since it's overall rolling diameter more closely matches the 195-50-16. It's a matter or preference I guess...but it's enough of a difference for me to opt for the 205-45-16 v 205-50-16.

The lower rolling diameter effectively improves gearing, helping acceleration. The result may be negligible, but every tenth counts
