I think the front of the MS3 looks better than the regular 3's. That said, I still don't think I'd have bought a 2010 Speed3 if it wasn't black.

I don't know

After looking at the black and lighter colors I think the darker colors hid too much of the subtle details designed into the body panels. I'm liking Red the most.

I keep hearing that, but I just don't get it. I see all the subtle details just fine, with the exception of the grille outline, which is just fine by me. I know it's all personal taste, but I think the black looks gorgeous on this car. I think the fact that it's not true black helps, too...the Black Mica in sunlight gives it a dark, dark metallic grey look.

I just dont like the tailights!...the way they stick out away from
the bodywork! It would be nice if there were something aftermarket that would
make them conform with the body!

2010 one is more or less the same just looks worse, all they did was play with the gears. imo its not worth buying unless they had a new engine design or somthing MAJOR that sets it apart form the old on, besides on how happy it is...... what was mazda thinking

God these comments are lame! Yes the front end is ugly to some, but the "happy" and "smileyface" comments are just so..so OLD now...yet they pop up in every other thread still.

With that in mind its still my only problem with the new design... :(

But I am considering trading the 07 Speed for one.

The engine is fine...here's some reading...

This is what Mazda was thinking.

Bottom line they had enough power, but knew they could get it to the ground more efficiently and put the money into the chassis.

Power isn't everything and the DISI engine is still a great engine.

Maybe I'm wrong

I think like others I maybe basing my opinion on the pictures I've seen and not of the car in person. What I'm finding out is that the picts of this car really give it a bad rap. In person teh grille isn't anywhere as pronounced as everyone says. In fact I like the new look the more I see it.

The only black version I saw was at the dealership and hadn't been prepped and cleaned so maybe I was jumping to conclusions. However the red one on that video looked damed good, especially at speed and at the angle shown at 1:08 in the video.

Well said. I finally had a chance today to take a nice long drive through some twisties, and I pushed it...hard. This thing handles like my old Miata, but has 3 times the power. Win.

I loved the Miata and what it lacked in power was made up for in its amazing handling. It was a go kart. The MS3 is the best of both worlds.

Back to the aesthetics, I admit I haven't seen an MS3 in person other than my own, so I guess I can't compare the subtle details just yet. I do know that even the front end in black looks better in person than in photos, so that bodes well for the other colors.

I don't think the aggressive hood scoop sits well with the happy grille, so I would have to either get rid of the smile or the scoop...

In this case, if getting rid of the scoop was a possibility, I'd do it.

I saw the black version in person at a dealer. It is every bit as ugly as the pictures suggest. Can't believe that anyone with common sense would destroy the styling of a performance car as Mazda has done with the MS3.

I also disagree with a previous poster's fondness for the Black Mica. I would prefer a deep, lustrous black. The mica seems washed out and indistinct.

The tailpipe coming to the end of the tip looks lame! Plus the bug-eye tail-lights look, well, bug eye!! All in all its still a bitchin car. Not worth trading in a 07-09 though.
