Wonder why your engine keeps blowing up?

^ I call BS.... Butt dynos ftl

Get a dashhawk and datalog it, or get some dyno time in to prove the power curve holds til redline. Otherwise its the usual butt dyno crap almost everyone on here spews.

I'm going tomorrow at 7:30am to get mine done. They have already told me if my pump is the old one they will replace it. Not sure if that will happen tomorrow as I don't know if they have any in stock, but at least I know I will be getting the PCM Update tomorrow.

At 11am I have a local Dyno Day with the S2000 crew. I will datalog all my runs with the dashhawk and see how it goes.

The only downside is that my ECU will be reset with the new flash so it will not have time to learn. I hope to get out of there pretty quick so maybe I can get 50miles or so before the Dyno.

What dealership is that please i have a 2007 July MS3 so will the pump be replaced and will that casue a change in fuel consumption or advertised specs for fuel consumption by the factory. If that is the case ,it just shows you that the ECU can not be tuned to deliver more fuel or rather it is incapable just by programming the PCM.

Just got back. The dealer is in Hayward CA so long drive for you :)

Not sure about the changes yet. I will datalog my Dyno run today and post it when I return.

No i need it as a point of reference just incase my dealership gives me a hard time over here. You know how they are about changing 1000usd parts and 3 hour labour jobs.

WTF:
it says:
2007-2008 Mazdaspeed3 vehicles with VINs lower than JM1BK**** ** 859606 (produced before November 22,
2007)

my VIN falls into that range, but according to MFG date on the sticker with the VIN it was producted in 01/2008 ....cleary not before 11-22-07 ?

Mine is an 08 produced on 06/07. Anybody know the first production dates for the 08 models?

Well Crap my VIN falls under this as well as the manuf date of 4/07 and I forgot that I had that Obd-ii Compliance Voluntary Emission Recall that was sent out last september plus I have that noisy dash/winshield issue that needs to be taken care of, looks like a long day at dealership for me!

My car was built in September of 07 and I bought it 2 days after this Bulletin came out.. Maybe I should go back down to the dealership.

I have gotten the flash done, you havent. Nuff said...

i just had this done this morning and overall it seems like a good reflash. i dont know if id say its faster now but it definitely is smoother now. idle, acceleration, boost. im not getting the surging that i would get occasionally before the reflash.

People doing the updates: Are you experiencing any of those symptoms? If not, would this update be worth doing anyways?

called mazdausa and the closest dealership since my '08 falls in the vin range, but i have no known issues to complain about.

mazdausa didn't have much info because this is a tech bulletin, which i figured, but the local dealer contact was very cool. he said the reflash typically needs to be done as protocol for the problem detailed in the TSB. He said reflashing with that update, for s**** and giggles, especially based on such a TSB, can actually cause more issues if the car is not seeing the issues based in the TSB. he said there is a seperate list of applicable ECU updates that would show up for my car when he ran the VIN and queried and he said currently there is nothing that is available that is a general program update for my car.

i can tell already this thing is going to turn into an internet legend....claims of incredible gains through a reflash on a car that was just fine to begin with....

the bottom line surely seems to be this - if you car is acting fine and/or you don't have any codes, then IGNORE this TSB
