See, ARSON pays.

I served on a Federal jury in Brooklyn back in 1998 for SIX WEEKS. I was picked as one of the last people in the pool the first day. The next day they were picking jurors for the Giante Mob trial...so I guess I'm glad I was on the other jury.

yikes!

thats crazy.

good thing i was in the beverly hills courthouse, from other people i hear most cases are pretty quick, and there are very few cases at that.

strange thing was there were about 10 lawyers in the 24 of us called.

I remember that dreaded day I went to Jury duty...ended up with no case (YES!) but ironically they had TV's in the waiting room and every single one was on court TV....judge Judy I think...lol

hahahaha.. that's classic.

my sister had turned 18 a month before she was called for Jury Duty. She was selected, and wound up sitting on a jury for a grisly murder trial where the man was accused of killing his two children (1 and 4yrs old) to get back at his wife for leaving him. He allegedly choked the one year old, and beat the 4 year olds head against the wall until the skull cracked. My sis sat in the Jury all day listening to these things. She didnt talk for a week, didnt go to work, didnt eat.
**** ******* jury duty for a ******* 18 year old.
Sorry, and hi sis.

You can't drink when you are 18 + 1 month, but it is your DUTY to be subjected to... God only knows the disturbing s*** your sister was subjected to in that week? (scratch)

Yeah, but I suppose it would be hard for anybody. She is the type of person that wouldnt harm a fly, volunteered at missions and Habitat for humanity, loves everyone. To see such cruelty actually broke her faith in the goodness of people for a while, and I dont think she has fully recovered. I've seen it on the news and in papers, and even had some folks near me die violently, but to hear it all, and see the accussed sitting there.....
Do your jury duty if you can, to save people like my sister from ever having too. And dont shirk the duty either, It is a priviledge to serve, and something that most of the world doesnt even have, the right to be judged by peers. Even with all the stuff we can complain about in this country, we still have a pretty amazing base of rights as ordinary joes and janes (Canada, I'm including you in this). I know it's kind of high-horsey, but after travelling a bit, the protections that we are given here (unfortunately they are not given equally to all Americans) are incredible in that any person in power would ever give so much power to the people "below" them, i.e. the common folk. It is not a perfect system, but in the end the government does answer entirely to us. Ensure that it runs smoothly by serving on Juries when asked and
VOTE!

Umm, I gotta stop this off-topic s***.
