Wobbling sound coming from front of the engine

Hey guys,

I'm getting a wobbling sound coming from the front of the car/engine while at high speed. It comes and goes while I am driving around 65-80mph for about maybe 15 seconds.

I thought it could a wheel bearing but it doesn't make that noise when I'm turning, it only happens when I'm on the freeway. The steering wheel doesn't shake or vibrate more when the wobbling sound occurs.

Could it be a broken downpipe? I jacked up the car and look underneath and nothing seem out of place, no loose parts.

Thanks for your help...

Can you describe it better. Wobbling doesnt really say much being a wobble isnt a sound. Is it whistling, howling, grinding. A wheel bearing will roar driving down the road. And it will be noticeable when you jerk the wheel 1 way it will get louder turn the wheel the other way it will go away.

Well it could be a lot of things my friend.. And keep in mind, negligence to fix one thing can often lead to other problems. Nonetheless, i would think to check out things like tie rods(visual inspection), wheel bearings (free hand spin the hub, should sound smooth), struts (visual inspection), or even simply an unbalanced tire issue(take it to your tire shop of choice). Hope that could help in time!

You know it could be the tires out of round also. I have 2 out of round tires on mine that drive me nuts. I've balanced them 2 or 3 times now and still shakes at 60mph+ so the last time I balanced them I noticed the tire out of round bouncing up/down on the balancer. Only way to solve that problem is new tires or like my case rotate them back on the rear.

I think it sounds more like a rumbling sounds...I just got it inspected and the mechanic told me that my cat is shot. The sound is still there, I will have my cat replace soon, hopefully that's the only problem. Thanks for the advise, I'll have my tires check as well.

Whoa now....replacing that stock converter will be expensive. A converter is not going to give you a vibration either, but it will rattle if it is chunked up. If anything take the bolts out of the downpipe and knock it all out it will help the turbo breath and spool better. Is there any way you can get a video with sound of the noise?
