I wantedd to know how complicated switching head units can be. I dont feel like throwing down 200 beans for an install if i can do it all myself, The amp and subs i know i can do, but teh head unit worries me. I would love to put in the Blaunkput (spelling?) San Fransico head unit. Any ideas? suggestion? comments? thanks guys! and if i need new harnesses or anyhitng, do you knwo where i can get them?

Hey dude,
I just replaced my head unit last week so I'll share my experiences.

First of all the stock head-unit is a PITA to remove, but I was able to do it with some bent coathangers and a lot of patience.

Second make sure you get the right wiring harness...I got the one made by BEST at a local stereo shop and it was a very simple install.

Third make sure you get either the pocket to fit under the radio or something else because when you remove the double-din radio you'll have a huge hole. I custom made a panel out of ABS and mounted something else there....

I mounted a component set in the doors (the door panels were pretty easy) and my amps in the back and under the front seat...I feel this car is very installer friendly....good luck!
