wiper control mod

a 2003 MPV wiper stalk was going to be $140 from the dealership (i think). i would seriously suggest looking around at local junkyards to see if they've got any wrecked MPVs or tributes. where are you from?

yes, those two assumptions are correct. i would assume the tribute wiper stalk would work as well.

as for the motor....i don't think it would have any negative effects.

Couple questions/thoughts:

First, I know you guys are talking for the P5, soo I'm guessing that the MPV stalk has the control for the rear wiper...for the Euro 626 stalk, I'm guessing that this does not have the rear wiper control? Are those two assumptions correct?

Now, my thought or concern is this: The standard Proteges did not come with the variable intermittant wipers, will swapping out the stalk with one that has the variable feature in any way put more stress on the wiper motor....you know, doing things it wasn't initially intended to do?

Thanks,
Jesse

orangeappeal, i think your assuptions are correct. i wouldn't worry about any additional stress. as a matter of fact, if you could measure the stress, it's probably less with the new control because you can vary the speed more (make the wiper motor run less frequently!) all is good!!!! wouldn't worry about that one at all!

its either 99 bucks from the dealer here or 84 from mazdastuff plus 30 bucks shipping...what happened to the 70 dollar deal??? lol

i know this may have been covered before, but i got to tell you, this is a 10 min mod that makes a world of difference. i live in the northeast and the weather this time of year bites, rain, rain and more rain. anyway, swapping out the wiper control with the one form the MVP gives you a real intermittent wiper. not that crappy thing we got with the car. it cost me $70, but it is well worth it!

Sweet Ass. That one step inter thing was a bit of a piss off. One of the only things that I found bad when I test drove my P5.

Thanks:cool:
