Has anyone painted their wiper arms or thought about painting them. ? They just start looking like crap and I was thinking about painting them. Any thoughts?

i thought about doing this after seeing my buddy do it on his integra... after looking at the car for a while, i decided it wouldn't look right... on his car the wipers come out from under the hood and onto the windshield, on our cars the wiper arms are more independant.... they kind of sit out in the open, so i decided it would look kind of well.... ricer-ish, but to each his own, if you try it i'd love to see pics!

I am not sure what they will look like. I would hate to paint them and then not like it. I just dont like how they get all beat up from the sun. And how long will they hold up after I paint them?

I did mine, they were peeling so i painted them flat black with a gloss coat. i like them they turned out well

the paint on them from the factory sucks, it is really easy, the hard part is getting the arms off of the car and getting them back on. as long as you dont do chrome or crazy colors it will not looke ricerish

yeah but the angle of the blade pivot piece pushes the hole at an angle on the bolt thats all

Not sure what you are saying. If you have trouble taking it off after removing the nut, just push down on the part where it has the spring and folds up and it wiggles free.

repainting is the way to go takes maybe 2 hrs if you want to do it right plus another 2 for drying.

I was thinking of painting them the same color as the car. Not sure thou. or just stay with the black???

man dont paint them the same color as the car that would look gay as hell!

sorry for the thread jack my trim piece under my wiper arms is fading as well would you paint it the same color as the wiper blades? semi gloss/satin black that is?

I used to have colored wiper arms on my old car and i thought it looked good but looking back now it was pure ricer, IMHO I would just stick with the black because the trim under the arms would stand out with colored wiper arms.

yeah they are not a semi-gloss though if you want it to look exactly the same as factory it is def a satin black but it is closer to a flat black if you ask me, i did a satin on one coat of the wiper arms andflat for the rest and it still looks shinier than what was on them the first time, i would do a test coat of flat black first, let it dry and see if you like it, if you dont then do a semi gloss/satin black coat on top. the flat black would just act like a primer layer.

if you need help with logistics let me know
*hint: a board and two wooden skewers works best (wipers on board, skewers through the hole at end of arm to hold them up)
