Pay. Not only is the quality of the laminate a lot better, but it's pretty damn hard for someone with no experience to do.

Do it professionally man. You will probably spend more trying to do it yourself unless you know exactly what you are doing.

I have 2 proteges, so I figured I'd try tinting the b car, and I have a new respect for professional tinters. The A car is getting a shop job.

Pay someone to do it. There's no way the price difference would justify the time and effort involved if you've never done it.

Miata, huh? So just two side windows and the two wing windows? $100 is a little on the expensive side. You might want to do some more shopping.

definately do it yourself, the satisfation of getting it done after hours of frustration and then watching it peel a few months later is worth doing it yourself

yea what would be a good price? just the two sides and wing windows? i'll do alittle more shopping but what do you think?

Based on what I know..... I have a guy here in town that does all the "local celeb" cars... He does top of the line work with tinting and detailing is what I meaning. He charges my referrals $195 for typical 4 door cars which have about 5 pieces of glass. I don't recall exactly if he's including the windshield in that or not. (He usually does legal on the sides then 50% on the windshield to make the sides look darker.) That's how we did my car.

So 5-6 pieces of glass for $195. I'd expect a Miata to be like $75.

Check your local laws, in PA it is illegal to tint the windshield or front side windows.

I had the P5 done for $185 (lifetime warranty, ect.) for 4 doors, rear vents, and rear hatch.

If you try it yourself, removing the door glass makes the job a lot easier.

I don't think it's legal to tint a windshield anywhere really. But it's not something that generally gets checked. You can't tell it's done by looking at it anyway. 50% isn't that dark, but enough to make the sides look better.

Are you sure it's totally illegal to tint the front sides? Many cars come with windows tinted up front. Generally the law is set to a percentage of tinting allowed. Usually you can go darker on the back and side back windows than you can the front side windows.

Pretty sure, had to sign a waiver when I had mine done.

Many cars come with windows tinted up front.

Many new cars? I don't think I've ever seen tinted front windows on a production car.

BTW, thanks for the image.

Yeah, you can get cars off the showroom floor with tint. I believe some are from the factory that way or sometimes the dealer will do it and sell it like that.

Oh yeah, that was you... I don't know why it came out smaller, it's been happening for the past week anytime I upload something to my photobucket account.

Buik's come with tinted fronts....the old mini vans and the new suv's....they're kind of purpleish on the front windows
