Window not rolling all the way down

So this morning the rear passenger window was not rolling down all the way. I stopped and turned the car off and then turned it back on and was able to get the window rolled down again. I seem to remember someone having a similar problem and it revolved around foam in the doors breaking up or something. Does this sound familiar to anyone else and if so, was it an intermittent problem or would it never go all the way down? I was going to take it into the dealer, but if it's working they're going to look at me funny. Are there any TSB's on this?

Vikefan7,
It was me, and I have been wondering that how come no other has this issue?!
No TSB on this. According to the service person, the assembly worker did not put enough adhesive on the foam. Under the baking of the sun, the foam went loose, and blocked the glass from rolling down. Sometimes, it works because it depends on the "position" of the foam from last time. Eventually, it got worse and failed every time.

Small problem. No parts needed.
That was the one thing that prevents me from proclaiming that my CX9 is problem-free...

P.S. mine failed when I rolled down the rear window for the 1ST TIME!!!

Okay, I thought I remember someone else having this problem. This is the first stretch of hot weather we've had this year, so it sounds like it could be the same issue. It did seem like there was some resistance from something when it was going down, so I think it's the foam. Hopefully they'll take a look without having to reproduce it. Thanks for confirming.

Summer is here. There may be more people with this issue.

I did a complete report on edmund.com's forum (CX9 problem thread).
If you print it out and take it with you, your mechanic will not fool around.
The fix should be quick and easy. Good luck.

Here is a reprint of what I put there.
...........................................................................................................................
At 5400 miles, 1st problem showed up.
Last week, I tried to roll down the driver-side rear door window. It made a loud noise 1/2 down and continued to go all the way down. Tried it again (up and then down), no noise! Puzzled. So I tried the other side (still rear door window). It made the same loud noise. Tried a couple more times, it stuck at 2/3 and wouldn't roll down.
No problem rolling up, thought.

My gut feeling was that something in the window mechanism was loose on both sides (!together!).
So, today I took it in to Oak Tree Mazda in San Jose.
I explained and showed the problem to the service advisor (nice guy, friendly, too).
He got me a loaner (Mazda 3 sedan with 1400 miles on it! Nice!).
When I picked it up, both are fixed nicely.
Here is what they put down on the service record:
"Rt side: Styroform(foam) pads has completely fallen off and is blocking the glass. Reinstalled styroform pad using silicon rubber."
"Lt side: Styroform(foam) pads inside the door has failed off from summer heat on the double sided tape attaching the styroform. Reinstalled styroform pads but applied silicon rubber for added support." (word by word)

They even turned on the "autolock" feature of SmartKey for me for free.
All it costed me was 1 gallon of gas I had to put in the loaner Mazda 3.

Anyway, summer is here. I don't think I am the only one that has this issue.
It is also nice to know that Mazda give customers loaner for repair and major
service. I don't think I was ever treated like that from Honda or Toyota!

Sure, I am not happy with the material or workmanship that caused the failure of the windows. However, I am glad that Oak Tree Mazda treated me fairly.
I would recommend Oak Tree Mazda to anyone.
They will get a 5-star for satisfaction from me for sure.

Sounds like assembly, rather than design. We get 100+ here, and have had ours in 110+ many times with no problems. At least it's an easy fix.

We've always been offered loaners for warranty service, but never needed them.
