Winding/Whirring Sound + Burning Smell

Hey guys, my CEL has been coming on and off for the last week or two and just today I noticed a weird whining sound that changes with the revs as well as a burning electronics or burning plastic smell coming from the left side of the engine bay. I'm taking it to the shop tomorrow but was wondering if anyone on here maybe had some idea just based off that what it might be.

Inspect the belts.

In case anyone else stumbles on this and needs an answer it was the alternator bearing that was making the noise and the belt was making the smell. The alternator also wasn't charging. A new one seems to have fixed my problems.
