Will This Work??? (Racing Beat)

A friend of mine had the Racing Beat cat-back exhaust on his P5. He replaced the muffler and the axle-back piping, but kept the other pipes. He said he'll give me muffler, so my question is this:

Will this Racing Beat "axle-back" fit on my stock P5 pipe?

Only one way to find out, try to bolt that thing up! If not there's always Ebay;)

It'll be a couple of weeks before I meet up with him.

Okay, let's assume it DOESN'T bolt up to the mid-pipe. Is this something a muffler shop could fix for cheap?

Thanks!

the racing beat muffler will not fit the stock pipes, i am 90% positive on that one - the inlet on the RB muffler is about 2.25 inches and the mazda exhaust pipe is not even that close in size if i remember my own installation right...

you could get a bunch of reducers from an auto parts shop and jerry rig it that way, but machining a connector at something like a muffler shop is xpen$ive. you could just get a custom pipe bent that is the same size and replace your exisiting pipe, which is not all that expensive.

why wouldnt it? the connection at the cat is the same connection at the axle...i dont see why it wouldnt work, unless im not quite understanding your thread

the fitting between the cat and the RB pipe is the same as the one between the cat and the mazda pipe - the RB muffler and RB pipes are 2.25 inches i believe whereas the mazda pipe and muffler is only 1.5 (?) inch. so going from a 1.5 inch pipe to a muffler with a 2.25 inch opening i am thinking will not work.

i did this a year or so ago, so could be completely out of my gourd on this one. email racing beat for an answer?

no the stock piping is bigger than that...if i had a tape measure i would hook up the definate answer as my stock exhaust is sitting in the closet, but im almost positive it will work...dammit ill get my tape measure outta the car tommorrow and have and answer by tommorrow morning

i could be wrong, i'll admit that, its been a while since i did the install and no longer have my stock pipes

Mitch's site says the Racing Beat is 2.375 inches. I'm just not sure if it will match up to that first connection (2 bolts) after the muffler.

Thanks, guys, for your responses.

Razor, you rule. That's hard for an "ex-squid" to say! Just be careful when they send you out to California. The Navy sent me here 10 years ago, and I've yet to escape!

remeber, a turbo charged engine needs backpressure from the down pipe, so as far as bolting on the RB pipe, i dont know why he wouldnt get a Greddy or Skunk 2 instead. I mean thats what thier made for. non turbo 2.0 FS engines!!!

HELLO, MCFLY, ANYBODYHOME? IS THIS THING ON?
