will performance exhuast over rev the turbo?

i have a cia and when i hit the gas in 6th gear the cars bogs back a little, someone else who has a boost guage said that after putting on the cia theres does this and the boost is spiking to 20 psi, not my friend someone on the forum, so when you say bogging is that whats happening in 6th gear and i wonder if my boost is shooting up like that other persons and the computer cant handle it and thats why it pulls bak a little and will shake back and forth "bog" like it doesn't know what to do

no disrespect, just observing. this thread just reminds me of how things where when the MSP proteges 1st came out.

its not about "thinking" who is wrong or right..its experience and trial and error...most of the people on here know alot more than you and i but i still know how to put 2 n 2 togetther and realize how things work...if ur scared dont do nethign to ur car...its that simple..we tell you what we think and know and u go from there making ur decision. no1 told u to buy a turbo car, like ive heard on here... pay to play

if u worry about "over rev" upgrade ur blow off valve and that will reduce the amount of air that could "over rev" ur stock turbo

Upgrading your BOV will have absolutely no effect turbo life. The only point of a BOV is to eliminate compressor surge, where the pressure shock from the throttle plate slamming shut can damage the compressor wheel of the turbo. If it can do this without leaking, then it's the perfect BOV. From what I gather, the stock one does this just fine. Only when you start running PSI where the stock BOV begins to leak should you replace it.

"Overreving" the turbo is only a factor of the exhaust gasses, and the only way that a turbo will spin faster than designed is if the boost control is not working correctly, or the wastegate is not large enough.

Putting an exhaust on could overwhelm the wastegate just like it does on the STI. Even IF you put the turbo out of its efficiency range and cause premature wear, the BIG problem is that your pumping more hot air into the engine than expected. You run a large risk of detonating and your motor will blow up, especially on a hot day or if you get a bad tank of gas. A downpipe might do this. A catback exhaust probably won't.

I don't know what say about me living in a fantasy land and not listening to the truth. I'm basing what I say on what I've learned from my work on my own car, research from books and the internet, and what I've learned from the Subaru boards, which I have to say are way more technical than this one. I'm pretty confident what I'm saying is correct.
