Hey guys!

Now that the Sirius and XM merger is approved, any chance will we see a newer OEM radio from Mazda which supports both Sirius and XM?

I'd like to get Sirius radio installed on my '08 MS3 GT (i have the SAT button on the console), but I'd wait if there was a newer radio coming down the line...

Thanks!

Riz

The merger still has to go through FCC approval so it's gonna be awhile. And even with the sirius radio you'll get the combined programming.

The merger just passed a large federal hurdle, however, a bunch of state Attorney General's have filed protests because, IMHO, the live in 1978.

Good to know about the combined programming, thanks!

I figure by the time that they do get around to having a Sirius+XM box, Mazda will not be making upgrades retroactively anyway...

iots because it will be a monopoly, even tho i dont see anyone trying to make a new satellite radio service, but by combining, they ahave no competition and will be impossible to beat

According to the FCC filings you should be able to get both with your current box.

The proposed pricing plans are awesome. I can get all XM + 10 custom picked sirius channels(or vice versa) for $16.99 a month. Since I like about 30 stations total from the pair, that works great.

I do not agree with that. Between HD radio, podcasts and internet radio you cannot logically claim a combo of XM and Sirus constitutes a monopoly. My the "ATs live in the past" is based on the fact they do not understand the numerous ways audio media is delivered in today's World and think the only two choices are AM/FM and satellite.
