Widest Tire on stock Series 2 rims?

Does anyone know what size i can go up to on these stock series 2 rims? I was hoping to be able to put some 235s on there, but I can't seem to find any information on this anywhere online.

235's will be no problem on an 8 inch wide rim. You would be fine with a set of 245/40's also. 245/40's would be closer on diameter which would keep your spedo more accurate.

245/40 is a very popular size for the stock wheel. Are you looking for a super sticky summer tire, regular summer tire, or an all season? The reason i ask is that some of the extreme performance summers run wider so a 225 of one of those will be almost as wide as a 235 or 245 on another brand. You could go wider than a 245, but I wouldn't recommend it. You'll end up with some strange sidewall flex.

I was hoping to get some Dunlop Star Spec Z1s or Hankook RS3s if i can find them in the right size.

Both of those are made in 245/40 18, and they are great tires. Do you plan to auto-x or track the car? Both of the tires you mention are great for competition and have huge grip levels, but don't expect them to last very long. Also you will need to rotate them F/R frequently to get optimum wear out of them. The RS-3/Star Spec's (tread wear 200/140) may be a bit agressive if you are just using them for street driving. You might want to consider the hankook Evo V12's (tread wear 280) or something with 250-300 tread wear rating for a street driven car. Don't get me wrong the agressive tires you site will be great, but are not likely to ever need that level of grip on the street. The only time you should need that grip is if you are driving at 10/10ths, and that is not safe on the street ever. Just my .02, take it with a grain of salt. After all this is your car and you should love it. I too have a bunch of stuff on my car that I will not need for a dialy driver. One of the reasons I am bringing up the tread wear issue if I am currently running on a set of Kumho ASX all season tires (tread wear 420) that I have only had on the car for 18K and they are almost down to the wear bars. The tires are warenteed for 50K and I will be lucky to get 20K out of them.
