Why you can't use compass mirror with tech pkg

Does anyone know the technical reason why you can't use a compass mirror with the tech pkg. My dealer can't give me a definite answer why.

This looks like the same mirror used in my Infiniti minus the compass. I don't think there is a technical reason. It just isn't included. Maybe they figure with NAV it is redundant?

It would not be redundant as the Nav unit does not display a compass heading.

Sorry... I haven't had enough time to play with mine to know. I know on my G35 it has compass on both mirror and nav so that may be what I was thinking about.

What kind of mirror do you have with the tech package? My mom has a 2014 GT with tech package and she asked me the other day where the compass was and I told her it was probably in the mirror. I guess I was wrong? I don't have the tech package in my 2015, so I bought the mirror with the compass but haven't had a chance to install it yet.

It is a little bogus that the tech package does not include it.

It would not be redundant as the Nav unit does not display a compass heading.

If you switch to 2D view by pressing the current speed portion of the screen the NAV will show basic direction info. Top of the screen is North, bottom South, etc.

My 6 GT came with the same - home link with no compass. It is only a $50 difference in price for the compass model so I would guess it was a cost issue. Bites since the GT is supposed to have everything.

There is no reason. I installed the compass mirror on my sport and the only thing the mirror gets from the car is power. It will work if you install it and bring power to it.
