so i went over to my brother's apartment to hang out tonight...and when i come out i find there's a huge crack and split right down the middle of my windshield...this totally sucks...now i have to go through the trouble of replacing it...and i just washed the car today...ahhhhhhh...oh well...really pissed off and i had to let it out

any idea what happened?...did you see any "evidence", i mean,do you know what caused it? any rocks nearby,or any punkass kids when you pulled up? ins. company, here you come.

There is also the possibility of the you getting a crack lower down where you didn't see it from a flying rock perhaps and then it spread. I know that in the matter of about a day, I had a small crack right around the windshield wipers from a rock kicked up by a truck and by the next day it spread right up the window.

If it was some punk kids...I got a 2 by 4 with some rusty nails in it for you.

sundevil....when you get ahold of the glass shop to have them replace it...make sure you tell them you want OEM GLASS...believe it or not...it makes a difference.

I just had my front windshield replaced about two weeks ago after a BUZZARD hit it....he obviously didn't get off the road fast enough...lol....anyway....make sure the place gets you an OEM windshield.....

what does oem stand for? what does it make it more aerodynamic or something?

OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer, in other words, it's factory

Original Equipment Manufacturer = OEM

oem windshields will ALWAYS come with the rear view mirror shoe PREINSTALLED you do not glue your old one on.

an OEM windshield will typically be a little thicker than an AFTERMARKET windshield and EXCEED minimum DOT specs. which also makes it stronger.

its FIT will possilby be better as its made to the factory specs and thus POSSIBLY avoiding problems down the raod.
