just got done washing the car...so i take it out...and today was an awesome day. cruised next to an ITR...gave each other a wave...pulled next to a 2.5RS...everyone seemed to wash their car today. but the best part about this car is...i had a car full of girls follow me home and yell out nice car...lol...never had that happen before. also...rev matching and toe heeling is getting much easier now...cant wait to start autoxing.

heel-toe is essentially rev matching. rev matching is where you downshift. in order to minimize engine bog caused by the synchros working...you blip the throttle in between shifts. arg...maybe a more detailed description would help. ok lets say at 50mph, you're in 4th gear. now when you downshift to 3rd, your synchros have to work to get your engine speed (revs) to match the road speed (mph). at this point you'll notice a lack of throttle response cause your synchros are working hard. so to rev match...you downshift to neutral, blip the throttle, then downshift to 3rd. you should notice a smooth transfer of power...no engine bog down. getting to know how much to blip the throttle takes practice. ok...now heel-toe (toe-heel)...going into a turn...you're going 50mph...now usually you'd slow down to about 30, maybe 20...thereby needing to downshift into 2nd. this takes the car out of the powerband, and accelerating is like trying to go uphill. so going into the turn, you brake late, using the outside of your foot to blip the throttle (some people use their toes to brake and their heel to punch the throttle, hence the name) downshifting into 2nd and tada...you're coming out of the corner at 30-40mph. your situation may vary...all corners are different. this takes a shitload of practice...hell ive had the car for about 8 mos now and i still havent gotten it right.

kepone is that the same as double clutching.......The mp3 for me is the first stick i have ever driven........I learned real quick how to drive it normal but I still am trying to figure tricks to get more power out of my car.......My best friend has a wrx and he let me drive it to pratice.... He has driven a stick ever since he could drive so he is awsome at it........So if any one is in the vegas area and they got spare time......let me know, so you can show me how to really drive a stick.....

Thanks for the primer kep0ne....clearly I'm gonna need some practice(and maybe to reread your post a few times) to get the hang of that! Is there any online tutorials or something or do you just need to have a bud whose into racing and stuff already?

Kep-

Vegas is right - The rev-matching is double clutch downshifting. Performing a double clutch downshift while braking requires the heel-toe technique.

we discussed this awhile back...rev matching involves blipping the throttle.......double-clutching is a method used on cars that didn't have synchros...doesnt involve the throttle. i got the terms confused when i first learned it.

it helps by minimizing the loss of power that occurs when the synchros have to do all the work. when you eliminate the stress on the synchros, more power is applied to the wheels quickier.
