Why does it take 13seconds to get to 60mph?

I don't even remember. But I keep reading everyone's posts about how you dont need a higher octane fuel and that a CAI is the best way to go and all this horse s s***. Higher octane fuel burns faster and burns all of it when you run it through your motor. I tried both 87 and 93 and between the two, my car ran 10times better on 93, and I got a hell of a lot better gas mileage, I had to tune my fuel way down to get good gas mileage which sucks because it robs power, but oh well. As for a CAI, its more or less personal preference. There are a few different ways you can make your car quicker, but it all boils down to, you have a 3500-4000lb car with 105whp (give or take) your car is not going to be some race car unless you spray the hell out of it or boost it. If you don't have much money to work on the car, I suggest just piece together a turbo kit, I did and for $1100 I had an entire turbo kit ready to put in the car, minus intercooler piping and oil lines for the turbo, which is like maybe all together about $100, so for $1200 you can turbo your car, and that was me buying brand new parts, I had brand new gauges, OBX turbo manifold, turbo timer, BOV, boost controller, Venom Fuel Pressure regulator, 3 gauge pod. Used parts were, the T25 turbo off a 2nd gen Eclipse, FMIC off a friends 380whp civic hatch, I think that was about it, Im sure there is more I just cant think of it all. But hell I have the manifold here at the house I'll sell you for cheap along with the turbo. But it boils down to, if you really just want some more pick up and go or better gas mileage, because you cant have both. When you turbo your car, you have to use 91+ octane and you have to run a little more rich on your fuel so you dont cause detonation and blow your s*** all to pieces. So turbo = more money and more gas.

But I suggest, for a daily driven car, Short ram intake (easier to route), 4-1 or 4-2-1 header, and 2.25in header back pipe to a muffler of your choice. Don't call for the stupid cat back systems you see on the internet, total waste of money, if you think about what you are buying, all you are paying for is some pipe and a muffler....there for, buy the muffler from like Borla (thats what I have) or Flowmaster or whoever you want, and just take it to your local muffler place and tell them what you want. If your state requires emissions, then just get a hi flo cat and call it a day. With these bolt ons you will notice a difference, with out making your gas mileage go all to hell. If you have more questions, please PM me and I can tell you more little tips and tricks that I found when I did this same thing to my car. Good luck!

Chris

PS - and the other guys are right, you dont need to run 91+ in your car, it just burns faster and doesnt leave as much deposits and s*** in your valves and such. I run 87 and it runs just fine, I just was saying that I noticed more get up and go with the car when I ran 93.

For some things you are right, But not on all. The CAI I feel is the way to go for a track car or a car that only comes out in the sun. Other then that just get a K&N drop in filter and some close dryer ducting to run to the bottom of the car. That will give you the same performance of the CAI with out the worry of hydro locking the engine in the rain. The Short ram intake will breath better but you also will be sucking in alot hotter air! It sits to close to the radiator fan. You'll spend your money for nothing. I had an 03LX with a Ebay CAI and an AEM filter, MP3 ecu, short header gutted pre cat, msp axle back 9lb flywheel. I ran a 16.3 1/4 with probably the worst 60ft every recorded. GET MOTOR MOUNTS! When it was new I couldn't hit over 110 mph, once everything was done I hit 130+ on our new toll road. I also put on the LX lip, sides and msp rear lip and lowered it 2in. I didnt race it much, but the only cars that did beat me where boosted. I new better then to race cars like z28s, GTs or EVOs. All of this and 87 oct I always got 30 mpg. I had it for 4 yrs and never had a problem engine wise.

Oh, and while I don't know how fast my 0-60 was, I know it was now where near 13secs.

Since Ashlee brought up the fuel tuning s***, if you look on your fuel rail there is a little cap that is round, about as big around as say a golf ball, but its not ball shaped. If you pull that cap off there is a screw in the middle of it....turn the screw about 1/2 - 3/4 of a turn down this will lean out your fuel a little and you will notice a little more torque on the bottom and mid range, but will lose power over all on the top end. BUT!! you will get better gas mileage. If you have issues or cannot figure it out, PM me with your phone number and I will call you and walk you through it on the phone. Its really easy, even for someone who knows nothing about cars. If you have a cell phone that can recieve short video clips, I can send you a little video of me pointing to it and show you which screw I am talking about.

More or less, this little device acts as a factory fuel pressure regulator. Its not as "highspeed" and cool as say a real regulator, but for your case, it works just fine and really does work. I know because when I put my header on the O2 sensor was picking up a lot more emission gas, so it will throw a check engine light, if you look around on here someone posted how to get rid of the check engine light. You have to use 2 spark plug non foulers which will back the O2 sensor out of the exhaust pipe and they won't pick up on all the exhaust gases, but some of them. Good luck and let us know how this all goes for you.

Will this mess anything up? Because I think im running too rich anyways.

My car has ran with it like this for...god...I think like 3-4months, and nothing has gone out, and I drive the hell out of my car. So I'm sure you are safe man.

I mean im sure it wouldn't mess anything up but I just haven't heard of this before. I know im running rich tho, because sometimes it smells like raw fuel in my tail pipe. Does the piece thats over the screw just pop off?

Alright. Ill probably do it like 4 in the morning lol. And you weren't kidding about it being a "little" screw lol. Do you think half a turn is good to start off with?

Y'all do know that the ECU's going to learn around it right? Just checking...

Just an FYI:

Higher octane fuel burns slower. It resists premature combustion preventing detonation.

And what the hell did you do to your car to make it weigh 3500-4000lbs?
