Why does it take 13seconds to get to 60mph?

hahaha I'm just messing w/ you :p. And 8:30 isn't even close to the buttcrack of dawn ;)

It's a bypass valve tho, to my knowledge there's just no sensor.

yeah, fuel consumption is horrible. I know I drive hard, but 150mile to half a tank is pathetic (approx. 300 mpt). I'm getting an oil change, new K&N fuel and air filters and checking tire pressure. I was once getting around 400mpt, but I'll let you know prolly by this weekend how the tune up helps. and I only run on 89 (minimum). 87 is horrible and I noticed that I get about 2-5 more miles per gallon on 89. 93 is a bit too expensive for me to try.

There is absolutely no reason to run anything except 87 in your car.
I am wondering if you are knocking bad. It sounds like the car is running pig rich to protect itself and the 89 aids in this. This accounts for the bad gas milage as well.
Get that thing to a service center ASAP

dude, you're talking foreign language to me. but I'll get it to the dealer soon.

and those air intakes (short and cold) cost about the same ($200+) and are more than $35 for a filter.

Ya I was wonder if someone was going to tell you that theres no reason to put super unleaded [or whatever its called] in your car. Your not doing your car any favors, that goes with the DOT4 and DOT5 also [break fluid, in case you don't know].

You don't HAVE to take it to the dealer, they will charge you soo much just to diagnose if there's any problems. I suggest if you know of a mechanic you trust take it to them first.

Well you were asking about intakes, I just suggested. umm you can get a new filter [mine was filthy] it will give a little hp [like 1 hp lol] but not like a factory CAI or Short Ram.

I believe this is what he's saying [if not I'm just a moron](dunno)
knocking bad = pistons
pig rich = a lot of.. ummm.. goop [engine sludge] in your car thats unnesessary.

I'm not making fun of you, I just want to know so when I [or the other guys] tell you something you won't be lost, but how much do you know about cars?

Sorry to keep over posting.

I'm like a noob. I know a bit. but technical stuff and in-depth stuff is over my head. I do some of my cars' maintence so I know about oil and brakes and a lil more. but not too much. I may be going to school for auto tech so I can get more in-depth with cars and performance

Okay. I might be going to a Voc. school to be an Auto mechanic.
That's cool we all have to start somewhere, right? I hope you learn a lot here.

Well, atleast you have the benefit of the doubt. I'm a chick so most guys think I'm dumb as s***, and that I don't know anything about my car.

Chris [TN/KY Tuners] and I are good friends now, but when he first met me thats what he thought I was dumb as a brick [and quote.. lol]. See, I don't have that benefit.

I don't know what is more retarded..
Being a guy with everyone thinking that you know stuff about your car and you really don't.
Or
Being a girl with everyone thinking that you don't know anything about cars and proving them wrong.

I don't know about you but I LOVE my car and I love talking about cars.

knocking is when the combustion in a cylinder takes place before the spark plug even goes off. This can be caused by a large assortment of reasons. A car like the P5 has a computer that can monitor such condtions and will attempt to compensate. One of the ways in which it does this is by pumping an absolute bajesus of fuel into the engine to try and aviod the problem. The mistery here is that anything in this relm should be throwing a Check Engine Light (CEL)
Is yours on?
This is only one possibilty, you could have the exact opposite problem in that the car is having a hard time igniting the fuel/air mixture all together.

Some things to do:
Change your air filter if its dirty
Install new spark plugs and check the old ones for any build up or oil.
Make sure the factory equipment is in place, IE 02 sensors and the like.

How many miles are on the car, and do you know the previous owner?
Looking stock and having been stock are very different. My old MP3 would appear to have been stock. it wasn't even close to it.

wow some misinformation in here. there is little danger to running a cai. honest to god THOUSANDS of people on this forum are runnign cai's with no adverse affects, i myself have gone through water up to 4 inches deep and been fine. our cars even lowered are very far from the ground. and using a bypass valve (which is what those things that get the water out) negates any benifit to a cold air intake, as it is a leak in the system pulling warm air from the engine bay. they also dont do enough to warrant their existence. you just have to not drive through a river with a cai and you will be fine

I just removed the factory airbox up to the filter housing. Added a K&N drop in filter. Use an elbow piece of balck ABS tubing (i think it's 2 1/2, or 2 3/4inch Inside diameter, and a pipe coupler to attach it to the factory airbox. It draws air down from the space by the headlights, which is relatively cool, and has the k&n to breath well.
I may add another 5-6 inch piece of pipe to the elbow jointjust to get the air from lower.

BTW. K&N drop in filters are $25 shipped on eBay.
