Why do they call it a reservation?

OK. I feel like I've just been ass ***** by a rabid 900 pound gorilla wearing a 60 grit condom using tobasco for lube.

I am (hopefully)moving to Chandler, AZ on Thursday. However I get a call today at 4:00 from the truck rental place (that shall remain nameless for now) that they don't/won't have the 24' truck I reserved for Wednesday July 30. They did offer me 2 14' trucks at no extra charge. :wtf: I don't know about anybody on this board but I can't drive two trucks at once. Since they decided to call at 4:00 that only left an hour before the other moving/rental places closed. So now I have to deal with this s*** in the morning. So far I have another company that will rent the truck to me for $3000. That's 10x the original. If I'm going to pay $3000 for a truck rental it better come with a minimum of one toothless blow job. But really for that much money someone else better by driving and loading/unloading. So the real question is why do they call it a reservation if they don't have your s*** ready? So now I have to be out of my apt. Thursday no matter what since my landlord already has someone moving in on Friday and my wife and I have to start our new jobs in AZ on Monday. Sorry I need to rant.

btw this was a major nationwide rental company, not some local schmuck.

LMFAO!! I don't know what to say....funny story but sad to see incompetence at such a level.....good luck!

I am so drunk right now. It's the only way I can deal with the stress without killing someone right now. (literally) My wife had to take my car keys and other more destructive items away from me earlier because I was going to go down to the regional office and "talk" to them.

I suppose it is funny from a 3rd party point of view. I just don't know what to do right now. We are very seriously ******.

I bet my whole paycheck on U-HAUL! They did the same thing to me. I "reserved" a 24" truck one way Sherbrooke-Quebec city and got a 18" that I got to get back to Sherbrooke. They suck.
And they wanted to charge me the extra mileage!!! I'll never do business with them again.

Do you have a friend or family member that could drive the 2nd truck? That's about the only solution I see.

that ******* u-haul in national city gave me a reservation for a 14' truck and told me that i could pick it up a 7am. so i get there at 7am and read a sign that they didn't open until 9am. i was moving from sd to la and had to meet my landlord by the early afternoon giving me no extra time since i was moving with two others and would have to make stops at their respective houses before heading up here. needless to say, since u-haul lied to me and then told me that my deposit was unrefundable, i told them to **** off and demanded my deposit back for 1) lying to me and creating an obscene inconveniece (had to reserve thru ryder which was another headache being that it was saturday morning and everyone needed a truck for some reason) and 2) the trucks i did see on their lot were so decrepit and busted and were in no condition to drive 120 miles or even three blocks, for that matter, they reluctantly gave my money back. that was three years ago and i'm still pissed at them. some things are just worth paying for.

Wow a 24 inch truck and a 18 inch truck....Hope your not hauling too much in that:D

Load 1/2 your crap to the local storage place and make sure the trucking company pays for it, the load the other 1/2 and bring it to your new home. Next weekend, pick up the other 1/2 of your crap (of course, using a truck for free again).

Problem solved....hand me a shot.

Call the national office of the rental chain. Tell them what happened. Tell them they need to get your truck there. If it's a national chain, they should be able to get a truck from somewhere else. Otherwise, tell THEM to get a truck from another company and rent it to you.

Yes, call them NOW, while you're drunk and pissed. Threaten to sue them. Do you have a Reservation Number or something. Use it. They can get you the truck you need in an hour or so. It's up to you to b**** until they do it. Otherwise you can sue them for all the expenses that you have because of their idiocy.

a side note......

Many of the 'Reservations' in Arizona have Casinos. That's all!

wow... no hatred here...

I've only used them a couple times... once for a car hauler.. I had to sort thru liek the 5 on the lot to find the one that had all the proper tie downs and working parts... but it worked..

the other time I got a truck to move back from college... ready at 8 am.. got outta there about 11 finally.

they didn't have the 18' truck I wanted so they gave me this frikken masssive 27' one instead.. yeah, it hauled all my stuff with room to spare, but I got like 5mpg all the way from ST Louis -> Kansas City -> Dallas. ugh, what a long trip.

yup willing to put my money on u-haul...we've been ***** like 4 times on them...this last time we didn't even bother...go to penske...

you know everytime I hear about U-haul they tell me they either ****** up thier reservation or the damn truck broke down. Check out Ryder if need be.....

U-hauls whole fleet of truck are like 83 models :bs:

I used to work for UHAUL when I started college. Renting trucks to folks just like you.
UHAUL has in their contract that they WILL provide you with the truck you reserve, or a suitable replacement. Lucky for you, the replacement CANNOT be two trucks. Call 1800 GOUHAUL and ask to speak to the regional manager. They can drive a truck in from anywhere in 24hrs.

Call corp and b****. Make them rent you a truck from another company. You pay U-haul the $300, U-haul pays the other company whatever their fee is. The three things to remember are :b****, b**** SOME MORE< b**** UNTIL THEY FIX THE F**KING PROBLEM. If that doesn't work, there's always C4 and a good remote detonator. ;)

Corporate was no help. They told me to call regional where I got the same **** that told me there were no trucks. We lucked out and got ahold of Allied and they had a truck they could load us on to on Thurs and deliver on Sat. Granted its $2600. But we are suing the other company for the difference.
