Why buy the AWR Motor Mounts and not the inserts?

If all you have to do is cut out the old ones and put in the new inserts why pay 70+, why not get the inserts for 7 bucks.

The black inserts are for the side mounts only, and they just fill parts of the stock mounts that are normally empty. No cutting up of the mounts is involved.

Okee dokee! When I installed my K&N CAI, a part was relocated a little over an inch directly behind the strut bar. First time I threw it in reverse, I got a mad rattle from under the hood. (eek2) Even at idle, this part came in contact with the bar. I've angled the part back on the bracket and no more rattle, but still - if the motor moves that much under the lightest of loads, imagine what it must do when you are really leaning into things. From what I've read, it looks like installing the front mount should make a big difference.

My question is how do you get the black side-mount inserts to not fall out? I need a visual.

The inserts are a new part they came out with.

The full mounts have been out for a while now. Those are the mounts that the racecars used.

So if I'm right the red inserts are a replacment insert? Because if I'm right I'm buying 3 fronts Thursday.

I'm confused..... Or maybe you are. haha They have had the 'front' and 'rear' mounts (firewall and behind bumper on lower frame bar) for a while now. Those are complete replacements. The other inserts are just inserts, they go into the existing mounts.

I would not suggest upgrading them all. I have the front and rear replacements, they're a little on the harsh side for daily use. Although they do have a softer set available now.

I'm pretty sure they have replacement inserts for the AWR mounts. You can choose 95, 88, and 70 durometer for the AWR front and rear mounts. This way, you can choose your hardness and change it up. Is that what you mean?

so does awr make inserts for the stock mounts or is it just replacements for the awr mounts?

AWR makes inserts for their own front and rear motormounts. They also make inserts for the STOCK side mounts.

so there are no replacements for the stock front and rear mounts? only sides?

I guess thats a better way to ask it. I think I heard someone bought these and just shaved off some of the rubber on the new mounts and they worked. I don't know.

"For the two engine mounts that we don't make urethane replacements for, we make polyurethane inserts. The factory rubber mounts have holes that the urethane inserts push into. Includes four inserts, two per mount on passenger and driver's side. Does not include factory mounts, one of which is shown in photo." (black mounts/ $44.00) These are inserts for the sides only

all the rest are for the aftermarket (front/rear) motor mounts.<!-- //-->

ok, hope this clears some of this up. the inserts are for the 2 side mounts, passenger and driver. take a look under your hood, you'll see them. the full replacements, those red ones with the gold brackets, are for front and rear. front is easy to get to, as the rear is hard to get at.

as for the mount bushings, also red, those are replacements for the awr mounts for front and rear. i don't think those will go into the factory brackets... otherwise wouldn't awr sell just the mount bushings instead? yeah.

^ correctoooooooo

the red/cheap inserts only change the aftermarket front/rear inserts.

STOCK MOUNT OPTIONS:

RR Racing makes inserts for the STOCK front and "rear": http://www.rr-racing.com/engine-mounts.htm#tech.

They fit into the "open" areas of the stock rubber mounts to help minimize movement/slack. They are held in place by the stock mounting system.

AWR (as has been said) makes inserts for the "side" mounts. They too fit into the open areas and are generally held in place via zip ties (at least for the passenger side mount).http://www.awrracing.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=251

NSN makes STOCK Polyurethane replacements for all mounts IIRC (http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=95394 or contact Steve on here - his alias is TurfBurn - or www.nsnmotorsports.com). He will need your stock mount "core" and will turn the mount around in a few days.

IF YOU HAVE AWR's FRONT AND/OR "REAR" MOUNT:

So if you have one of these:
http://www.awrracing.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=20 (of any originally supplie durometer)...your option here is to remove whatever type (durometer) that Tony originally supplied with your mount and replace it with a new hardness:

ALRIGHTY then! I think I threw everyone off by calling the front mount bushings inserts lol. But I got my answer, then front mount replacements will not fit the stock mounts so you HAVE to buy the hole mount.

So last question, which is best? Or is it like the CAIs, a personal choise.
Thanks for all the help guys, really.
