Why Are Torque Specs Such A Guarded Secret?

As I understand it, bottom end torque specs are numbers no one wants to share. I brief search of this forum confirmed what I have heard, as every post requesting bottom end torque specs was unanswered. Why is this? Are the tech-heavy proty owners such douchebags they don't want to divulge information they had to spend a whole whopping $25 on a shop manual for? Where's the spirit of brotherhood? I find it inconceivable NO ONE would have these #s, especially with the factory rods being the cast pieces of dog poo they are.

I could care less personally, but my roommate has been struggling to get his MSP put back together and apparently has been running into heavy resistance when requesting help. Someone PLEASE show me how wrong I am and post up torque specs for the mains, rods, etc. so we can put his new motor back together and get his s*** out of my f'n garage! FS motor, btw.

I think chilton makes books on our motor , I think it under 93 to 2000 626 and 323. That book has the FS-DE motor teardown and build up in there...check it out.

because there is so much information in the engine overhaul manual that is useful even when building a motor with aftermarket uprated parts, it will take all day to type up ALL of that info, plus there will be NO diagrams/pictures, causing confusion and interpretation errors which will very likely lead to improper assembly.... since it will take all day to do that, no one will do that because people have lives

the $25 for the manual is worth every penny and when it's not useful anymore it can be resold to someone else who will need it

I would never intentionally steer anybody wrong but sometimes douche bags make mistakes. Are you sure you want to trust such an important aspect of assembly to a bunch of douche bags?

I didn't ask for the entire shop manual to be rewritten. If it wasn't apparent from my original post this isn't my first motor buildup, so I don't need all the dummy warnings. I asked for torque values for the mains, rods, etc. We already found torques specs for the camshafts and heads, and the proper torque sequence. So, thank you douchebag #1 w/ your 2400 posts for being so generous with your help.

On an unrelated note, thanks arlmazdaspeed, we were very aware there are no Chiltons or Haynes for the 2003.5, but I will investigate the pre-3rd gen shop manuals if the engine buildup info for those motors are the same.



Also, before you all get your panties in a bunch for the 'newb' calling out all of you for being so helpful, realize I am making valid points. Perhaps the Mustang community is just more considerate than this one, because I know if I were to ask on any one of my Mustang forums or my kit car forum I would have had the values I requested 10 minutes after posting, and would have made to look like a fool for posting so offensively. Unfortunately, here, that's not the case. Ban away, but please post up the values anyways as a service for your future members that will undoubtedly be asking the same questions sooner or later.

the engine overhaul manual is NOT the *entire* shop manual... it is only a 60 or so page manual SPECIFIC for ONLY the engine.... the ENTIRE shop manual has been around online for a while now (illegally) by the helpful "considerate" people

nobody cares about your whining, so suck it up and buy the manual from the dealer, or pay 20 bucks for the chiltons toilet paper from the auto parts store, or if you prefer to be "cheap", just STFU and go away

Damn, my roommate was right. You are a bunch of asshats on here. Why not just man up and post the torque specs?

Also, FWIW... my roommate did attempt to purchase a manual from the local Mazda dealership. They wouldn't sell him one. Another testament to the AWESOMENESS of Mazda, ranks right up there with his broken rods and unrepaired engine (that is still under warrantee).

I have no qualms with being cheap. Why would I buy something that's not even for my car? However, you also were successful at proving that you have a 2nd grade level of reading comprehension, especially the part where I stated (that means 'said') that my roommate DID attempt to purchase a manual from Mazda, and we have both been to all of the auto part stores and the Chiltons/Haynes websites. As you are probably aware, there are no Chiltons or Haynes manuals for 2003 MSPs or anything close.

Hmm, so let me review our choices. We can drive 60+ miles to another Mazda dealership and hope that they'll sell us the manual the local dealership wouldn't, or try to get some help from fellow auto enthusiasts on the internet. I wonder.... what makes more sense?
