Who's stock and running EBC/MBC?

:
2003.5 Mazdaspeed Protege
I got the Greddy Profec B Spec II for my Bday and I'm just wondering if I should wait to install it or just install it and set it to 7 or 8 PSI? I know I'm going to be itching to do something with it once it gets here.

But for those who are in this situation, could you please list your EBC/MBC, PSI, any problems encountered and why you didn't wait on supporting mods?

Thanks.

I heard ebcs can be more dangerous than a mbc.....but i am installing this weekend, most people said it is safe to boost 9 to 10 psi on 93 octane gas.

Is that true? I have injen air intake but i highly doubt that has anything to do with a mbc

i have heard not to go over 8 stock. the boost will not hold if you are stock, so i would have it spike to like 8.5 then it will probobly be around 7ish to redline. dont get carried away with it, the gains you would get going up to 9 or 10 are minimal since you do not have any supporting mods and will greatly increase the chance of damaging your engine.

My friend just had and filter and a MBC set at 10-11psi. It made great power but around 4500rpms you can feel the car get slower. I would have to guess it was the stock exhaust holding him back. It was making the turbo even hotter than normal because all the extra air trying to get out was getting held up with 2.25in piping.

He has a 3in turbo-back now and OMG does his car pull. Exhaust systems do a lot for the MSP. That would be my number one mod if I had one.

I guess we'll see when it gets here and how "itchy" I get to install it. Maybe I'll just use it as a temporary boost gauge for now.

ebc isnt any more dangerious than a mbc. The reason it would be is because it it easier for you to control. Alot of people will think uh 1 more psi is okay and sence the adjustments are sitting right in front of you, it is TO easy to play with. Mbc user's will have a little more self control becuse we have to get off or ass's to go turn the thing up or down.

Lol, so true.

had a friend running 8-10 psi on stock motor raced it once and thru 3 rods.. to much back pressure on engine from his stock exhaust and stock very restricted DP. good luck..

Really!? That sucks!

What are you running for boost?

No I have 3 inch exhaust, emanage, liquid to air intercooler, new ACT clutch.
When I first put the Emanage in and tried to turn up the boost the injectors where pretty close to 100% duty cycle

how the liquid to air IC.. how much did it cost u ? dont know why more ppl dont do this
