Who's running rich? Not me!!!!!

no this has been only using a narrow band setup, good for preliminary tuning but worthless for more extensive tuning...I wont have an accurate a/f reading till im able to get on the dyno...so to be on the safe side for now I've tuned mine to the first green bar on rich....I had a wide band in my dsm...guess I should of made it a littler clearer....as a disclaimer i dont recommend you do this unless you know what you're doing. In discussions with JoeP he stated he didnt market an adjustable fpr b/c he didnt want people with no experience tuning to just crank knobs...

Gotcha...just want to make sure you understand the risks/limitations of tuning with the stock o2 sensor.

yea been tuning for the better part of a decade, so sometimes I take measured risks...then again sometimes i get cocky and do stupid things....went out tuning again last night and for some reason im back to super rich again and at the same time my boost drops to like 8psi.....not sure what the hell is going on, but last night it was uber hot and humid as crap...oh well today is track day so hopefully I'll have time to look over it before I run, otherwise I'll just yank it for now...im really hopin it stops screwing around though Im kinda anxious to see just how much difference leaning out the mixture is going to make...

won't the ecu compensate for what you are doing, or am i wrong? i honestly don't really understand what you are doing, i just know our ecu loves to learn around things...

He went so fast that when he let off he was in china. j/k

tornado warnings at track...so the meet was cancelled....gonna try to get down there saturday day...though Im not a fan of running when its sunny and 92 degrees outside...kinda happy though I get another week to tune my boost has dropped now to 7psi...have no clue what the problem is...replaced all the lines, new gauge, pulled apart the mbc...everything is fine but only boosting 6psi...going to pull the diaphram and wastegate tomorrow afternoon and see if something got stuck open...as far as the ecu comment, I actually have no clue...I hope it doesnt learn its way around it...I think as long as I dont go outside the computer map parameters I should be fine...thats why I'm adjusting very little at a time...this humid fl weather is making it difficult going from dry hot air to cold damp air daily...but none the less hopefully I'll be able to post some times saturday evening...

hmm can't have a program with an If statement without having a then statement directly following...programming 101...and = usually dont start command lines...
but at any rate the device will be installed rather shortly, and after a dyno run I will display the results, which fingers crossed with show a perfect a/f value all the way thru the power band...
Ever hear of operator overloading?

operator overloading pertaining to which of the statements you quoted?

Update on the a/f ratios...the ecu just learned its way around the solenoid trick...I'm back to rich again, though I was running pleasantly leaner for a few days...I'm resetting the ecu tonight and I'm going to A. set the unit back to the leanest condition i obtained before the ecu threw a tantrum and B. I'm going to move the unit to intercept the boost signal after the solenoid instead of before it. I'll keep everyone updated on the progress....currently I can lean out to 3 green bars into rich(using a narrow band autometer), but any leaner and the ecu gets pissy...this is a change from 8 bars into rich, which is what i had before installing the unit, so it is making a difference, I just need to perfect the process it seems...now this is still just using a narrow band unit, but a 5 bar difference, even on a narrow band, is a significant change....i was going to hit the track today, but once again tornado warnings....hehe i'm giving up on the track idea, i think the dyno is coming fairly soon instead....depending on how well/bad this ends up going I'm getting ready to get back to work on the SAFC hookup...I had one working on my turbo FS03 MX6 using a modified voltage signal in and out of the unit, but when i suggested the idea on these forums everyone looked at me like i was crazy...toole just let me know guy, I'm gonna be out of town on business for the next 2 weeks but I'm pretty much free after that...hell we could get a dyno day together if you want...

holy god I'm not sure what I did yesterday other than reset the ecu 5 million times and kick the car, but this damn thing is pulling like a beast!!!!!!! Raced a stock srt4 last night and beat him twice off the line with the a/c on! First time by 3 car lengths by the time i hit 60 and the 2nd time by 1 car length at 60...the last thing i did to the car was move it back infront of the solenoid and lean it out till the engine threw a code, then i reset the code and turned the valve back a quarter turn....maybe its just the weather, but whatever is the cause I love it!!! grr too bad the car goes into storage next week while im away for 2 weeks....at any rate I want to run it with a modified o2 signal and see how it works out, currently the o2 is still ratting me out to the ecu, but i think with the modified 02 and the valve we shouldnt be having a rich problem anymore...toole I'll give you a call here in a few days and see if we cant get a dyno group together...theres a small shop up the road with a dynojet that I think we can wheel and deal with...

sounds good man... what shop are you referring to? there are a few dynojets here in town

I think the guys name is anthony....few of my friends have used him...said hes short conversation wise but otherwise a pretty ok guy...im not really pick though anyone with a dynojet would work, I'm not a big fan of mustang dynos...

The only way to lean out the curve and keep the ECU from pulling it away, is to tap the O2 sensor and send a false signal to the ECU.

Otherwise, The ECU will SEE the actual mixture and adjust injectors cycle.

yes you are correct, but as long as the a/f mixture is within its error limits it wont correct it...so the secret was finding the error limit maxes and staying within them, which is what i now have. for future leaning I will be using a modified o2..

i prefer mustang dynos for tuning purposes as they compensate for real-life load on the vehicle...

as for just seeing sheer power... i prefer dynojet
