Ok well some dude in my hometown bought (his parents bought him) a damn evo. He talks all kinds of $hit and says how much better his car is then mine.. Im like ok sure it is but it cost HOW MUCH MORE??? anyways back to the the subject...which is a better car?? EVO, STi,?? since there in the same price rance im guessing......

I like the EVO more the STI barely out performs the EVO 1/4 mile wise but the suspension is so nicely tuned on the EVO. Where the STI pigs into corners the EVO just glides through. This has been noted by many mags with the recent STI.

Plus in a race againts the JDM STI, a few other Subs and a EVO VII. The EVO VII was keeping up and passing in the corners.

Course not saying 100% only been in the EVO and not the STI yet. But it would be quite amazing if the STI was faster overall.

Oh and that dude is a stuck up ass if he is comparing two cars that aren't even in the same class. The P5 is outstanding in its class for handling and ride fun factor. Those who don't understand this haven't driven a P5 yet.
Even my friend with a EVO VIII commented on how well the P5 was handling when we raced once. Course he wasn't fully pushing it :)

Yep that is the one thing they keep trying to market about the STI that it makes 300ish and the EVO is around 276ish. But my friends stock EVO is doing 13.0-13.2 in the 1/4 for it isn't slow by any means.
The STI in some test were only edging it out by a .1-.2 seconds and they weren't running 13.0's.
The STI also weighs more.

There has yet to be a magazine comparo where the STi won... Usually, they're not THAT unanamous...

I'd probably go for the EVO, were I in the market. Which I'm not.

They are both nice....i think i rather have my p5 though....i think it looks way better....and if i was giong to spend 30k+ i might get soemthing else....

Honestly....here we are again. Even though the Mazdas have their share of little problems (all cars do), I would much prefer the overall quality of the Mazda over any Subaru or Mitsubishi.

When have you ever read where there weren't issues over a Mitsubishi product. Plain and simple; they are not very reliable cars. Check any consumer report. They ain't that good! And I don't imagine, the EVO will be an exception. I would bet that is going to be a problem prone car.

Subaru? Well; I like more than the EVO. I think that STi is damned sharp; whereas the EVO (to me), looks like s***. Again; that EVO front end is horrid!! Subaru quality has improved over the years, and I think they are nice cars. How will they be down the road after a year, 2 years, etc...? Who knows.

Between the two; I choose the STi. I have read the tests, and they both have advantages. I will always give style a nod, when things are that close.

It's all subjective. It's all personal choice. A buddy of mine's friend in Knoxville just bought an STi for about $30,000. From what I have seen, that's less than the EVO. In Memphis, they are asking about $35,000 for the EVO.

pick up a copy of last months Car and Driver and there's a good comparison of the EVO and the STi. (EVO wins it, but not by much, and that's with a ~30 hp deficit)

Yep! I have it. But; the STi is my choice. Better looks will always prevail when the difference is that minimal.

I do think it is bulls*** that their is 'no' radio offered with the STi, though.

That is why, for my $20,500, the MAZDASPEED is PERFECT!!!

yeah AGR, i agree. for that kind of money, i would expect a lot more refinement. i'd be willing to sacrifice a few of the 300 horses to get a little luxury.

I'd take the VW R32 over both the EVO and STi, for a daily driver at least. Not the same performance, but not that far off. Still great AWD performance but you get actual luxury items and a comfortable ride. If Mazda made an AWD Mazdaspeed Protege for around $22-$23k, I'd take that.

for me it's still the STi...but that's because i've always been a subaru fan...since the first STi came out...actually a while back there was the comparo between the last ver. STi and the EVO 7 by tiff needell...and he like the subie better...but hey it's all peoples opinion...if i had listened to some of those boneheads i wouldn't have ended up with my p5 :D

there is an EVO in Knoxville that is around $30k i think it was like $30,600 or something like that. they also just got a new one at that dealer even though they cant sell the first one. i like them both but i cant handle the difference in price for a trade so ill just keep the mp3.

I'd take the STI, like AGR said, it's so close you just have to go with what looks better to you.
They're too expensive though.

Unless people are Mitsu or Subaru enthusiasts why would they pay over $30K for a non luxury car.

Around here both cars have huge markups...5000+...they are sweet cars, but thats a whole lotta cash. I dunno..when you're getting into the 35K+ range..there's a lot of cool cars out there to choose from..just depends what you're into. I just get annoyed when people try to compare Evo's/Sti's to MSP's/P5's/MP3's......Apples and Oranges people..

I'd get the Sti if I had cash to splash...

If he is talking s*** like a typical spoiled little ass.. then he will probably follow suit like many other kids who's parents buy them a car they can't handle and have no respect for....and rap it around a tree or something.
