if i had a child i'd install the seat when the child goes with me and i'd deinstall it as soon as the child leaves the car ^^

middle of the backseat for my 3 year old. He loves climbing into that seat b/c he can see straight out the front window. It looks like a little racing seat too; soo cute. Whenever we go somewhere, he says "were taking the the Mazdaspeed?" and then very enthusistically goes "vvrrrruuuoooommm"

I keep telling him it's "zzzooooooooommmmm.....pfffffsssssttt" but that may be splitting hairs ;)

He's out of the country with mommy right now so I'm just missing him outloud I guess...but I've got one too (hi)

I thought that too, but they're a pain in the ass, so I don't.

Until veeeery recently, (like last week) my son still fit in the infant carrier, and we just kept a base in each car, tan in mine, silver in hers. Now he's in a bigger rear to front facing converting seat. It really couldn't match the tan interior of my car any better. We only have one though, and it sucks swapping it between the cars. I already miss the easy swap of the carrier!

Also, I found that the little lock thingy you use to secure the seat with on a shoulder belt can be used in place of a CG Lock for autocrossing!

I'm talking about one of these:

A CG Lock is $41.95. One of those thingies is less than $10.(rockon)

Got one. Stays in at all times. My 2 year-old absolutely loves the 5, as I've stated before. Demands we take "zoom-zoom" when the three of us go out together, and loves the windy roads we take when we have to got to "mom-mom's" when his mother is at work.

Our car seat generally stays in the Volvo wagon, but it has been in my P5 from time to time. We just switched from the infant carrier with a detachable base to a more permanent toddler carseat. It is still rear-facing tho, so it takes up alot more room. She likes it better tho, because she sits a little higher and can see out the windows now :)

Do all toddler seats have to face backwards for a while? I see the car seats in the stores and thought once they get out of the infant seat they face forwards.

Maybe in the next year I'll have to have carseats. I have the infant one already, stroller/carrier/carseat. I'll just leave the base in with a towel under it to protect the leather. All other seats will probably stay in all the time too. I want to get some little racing seat looking ones.

Yeah, they are supposed to be rear-facing until their first birthday. After that you can face them forward. They are NHTSA guidelines, but many states implement them as law.

Warning! Warning! Educational material ahead. Proceed with Caution!

The reason for it all, in case you didn't already know: According to Crashtest.Com, frontal and frontal offset crashes combine for about 72% of all crashes. Side impacts are about 24%. Rear and rear offset crashes only account for about 4%. The odds of being in a serious frontal crash are many times greater than being in a rear-ender.

Motor Vehicle Crashes are the #1 overall cause of death for children 14 and under.

I'm gonna get my first car seat installed around april!

I have one for my dog... it's pretty neat. The dog is too small to see out the windows, so it boosts the dog up and than you adjust this leash type thing so that the dog doesn't jump out the window. Works pretty well.

My parents have one of those for their mini-greyhound... pretty cool. No such luck with my 90lb Yellow Lab :) He barely fits in the hatch!
