Mazda2 Sport 2014
I have a new "used" Mazda2 Sport 2014 manual transmission. I recently started hearing a whistling noise when I'm in 2 or 3rd gear. It comes and goes. I guess I never heard it before because I had the radio on.

I'm not sure if it's worth bringing into the dealer yet (I bought a CPO)

I am wondering if it's the transmission or the belts.

thoughts?

Most cars with the drive by wire system will have this sort of whistle/electronic whine when the throttle is only pushed partially. Thing is that the noise is only picked up by a certain age group as the frequency falls out of audible range for certain age groups. It's sort of like the sound grenade app on iphones where only a certain age group can still hear it. Wonder if this is related to that in any way

Thanks for your replies.

I haven't tried the no AC vs AC on thing.

It definitely comes and goes in different gears -- 2,3,4

I spoke to someone at dealership today and he thinks it's the tires. He says it's really common to hear a whistling noise from
Tires and I did some
Quick google searches and he's right -
Whistle noises from tires is common.

What's odd in this case is that it sounds like
The noise is coming from the bottom of
The car in the center, not from
Any corner or directly near a tire.

I can have the dealership
Check it out at my first free oil change. Or sooner if I think it gets worse.
