After my car is wormed up, at idle, I have the loudest high pitch whistle noise. It sounds like its coming from the wastegate area. I know, vacum leak right? Any ideas? Ive looked like 10 hours and cant figure it out.

thanks,
Ian

Gotta be a vacuum leak...but being warmed up shouldn't affect it UNLESS it is a hose that has a hairline crack in it that is expanding due to the heating effect...I would really try to get as close to the sound as possible and then start checking or replacing Vacuum lines.

OH...It might actully be the Wastgate diapraghm itself...It could be bad and leaking internally which is not good...It would give you more or less boost depending on how that things works...Do you have a boost gauge and if not does your car seem to be running really well or poor?

i think you are getting what a few other ppl have gtten including myself. general theory is that its a small hole in the wastegate. it doesnt seem to have any affect on my cars performance. sometime when you are stopped and you hear the noise squeeze the line that goes from the wastegate to the t-fitting(assuming your stock). if that stops it you should prolly take it back to the dealer. iverheard of ppl getting new turbos because if it.

Well, I have a down pipe and a filter. And yes, I do have a boost gauge. Last night I went full throttle just to see, it spiked like 7psi and slowly went to about 5 twards redline. I hope its not the wastegate. I mean, getting a new turbo would be cool, but haveing to deal with the dealership about warrenty work (dark) And it dosnt seem to be running bad. I dont know, I have always felt I have one of the slowest MSPs :(

Is the noise only when you are boosting? I have some similar noise problem but it manly happens when I'm on vaccum (around 20 In-Hg). Anyone noticed something similar?

I had the same problem a while back. I took it to the dealership and they found the wastegate to be leaking. This was causing the noise and the overboost situation. I was hitting fuel cut in every gear when it was cold. They could not just replace the wastegate mazda made them replace the whole turbo assemble.

Ok my sound is totaly different. Guess I'll check the vaccum lines.

Ok, I think I found the problem. Yesterday, I looked again, and the T fitting were the wastegate hose is ect, well, when I touched it, the whistle stopped. So I figured thats what it was, and maybe thats why I was spiking realy bad with my MBC. Oh well, thanks for the help though guys.

Mine just started doing that today and just like the others mine goes away when you apply a little throttle, will it harm the car, or anything?

Yea, that was pretty much the same problem I had. Do you have any kind of boost controller? If so, check the T fitting, were the wastegate hose and manifold hose and BPV connect. My T was cracked. And that was the problem. I just replaced all of the vacum lines and T and it has been quiet ever since.

no boost controller its stock, and its normal when you drive 6.5 psi, and 22on vac, and when i cut off the supply to the wastegate it stops??? and thats when i left work.. and when I got home it was there and when i revved the engine quick a couple of times it went away?? i think it is possesed!!

Sounds like my car I had that noise gave it a few jabs at the throttle and would go away. I decided to take it in before warranty was done and it was the waste gate diaphragm (spelling?) they were pretty cool but I had to take my car back home and change out the Injen back to stock air box before they would replace it. They had a blue one there with the same problem but his was really bad...at least thats what I was told.

I got it too, and crap, fine, I'll change my intake before I go. Thanks for the info.
