Which springs for me?

So I've been considering getting a set of springs for some time now.

Here are my MAIN concerns:

-I want to maintain as much ride comfort as possible

-I'm not looking for a big drop

-I'm very concerned about weight transfer. With the amount of power I have, the rear of the car squats, taking weight off the front wheels, resulting in less traction. I would want it to NOT transfer as much weight to the rear.

-I'm paranoid about messing up the handling. I don't want a bouncy ride, and I do not want it to handle any worse than stock.

-I want them to last, and not make funny sounds

I want the best spring I can get that does all of the above.

Hmm..I am sorta biased towards my H&R's. Actually TireRack had a shootout w/ the Sport Springs vs. Eibach vs. (forgot brand). They said the H&R's offered the best streetability. I like them. Have had them for almost 2 years. Comfy on the highways, smooth, progressive on all 4 corners, there was body roll on stock struts hehe, and no noises. It was soft in the back due to improper struts (stock)., now that I have the Illuminas..no squatting whatsoever.

If you're looking at the less squatting..get yourself some Spool springs w/ the minimal drop on the rear but 2" up front. Your rear end sits higher. And I think they're comfy when I rode in NetGuy's car. You can pm him.

Which car was this on?

I take it Illuminas are struts. So Illuminas + H&R = no rear squat?

I heard iffy things about the Spool springs, plus the difference in the drop looks kind of funky to me. Besides, I'm not interested in a 2" front drop.

I have the spool springs and I have no rear squatt, but then again I am not turboed. Also, I dont think you can get spool springs anymore. I'd go for the eibachs pro line. Are you changing the struts too? If you are going with the tokico illuminas 5-way adjustable, I know of a good place to get them for cheap.

Racing beat...LOL. The H.techs are what I was looking at. I have the same criteria for springs. I really wanted the iON sport spec, but I don't want to pay that much and I'd like to get the springs sometime.

racingbeat all the way, the drop is close to a inch, and the car will handle greatly with some shocks. i have tokico hp shocks. i'll try to get you a pic today of what it looks like.

Don't I have RB's from the factory?

I think thats why Tein released their "H.Tech Springs". You should take a look at those.

http://www.tein.com/htech.html

MAZDAProtege
BJFP99-04HTECHInfo4dr Sedan (exc MP3 03+)SKM46-BUB00
$260.002.9/162
2.3/129
-32
-1.3-8.5
-0.3

The "exc MP3 03+" part makes me nervous...

Also, According to Rishie of AutoRND:

Tein - too soft as well
Eibach - too soft for performance
HR - bouncy
Espelir - best compromise i've found.

Excellent. A comparison against Alan's Eibach (?) lowered P5 would be nice too. :)

Werd on the Ion's. They're a nice ride...Maxx Mazda has them on his car. Of course it took quite a bit shorter wait time since we're all in the same city together. Yes..they're pretty dope.

Any of the MP3 guys - when you put springs on your car, did it wear out the struts faster?

i think u do have them. im sorry i didn't see the obvious mp3 thing under your avatar. well eibach pro kits.

Kooldino, yeah, your car has RB's from the factory hence my "LOL" after my comment.

The struts shouldn't wear any faster with springs. As for the comments by Rishie, the struts play a big part of how "soft" or "bouncy" the ride is. The H&R's being bouncy would mean that they are underdamped. I drove a P5 with S-techs and it was really bouncy, and it had stock P5 struts that are worn.( Underdamped)

Has anyone used the progress springs yet? Also will the same springs for a 99-03 protege and mp5 work on my mazdaspeed protege?
