which shift knob comes with my car?

I have a 03 MSP. My shift knob says "Mazdaspeed" and shows the gears (1-2-3-4-5-R). I thought the 03 MSP's had a Sparco shift knob that said "Sparco" and nothing else. Could someone verufy this? I am calling Mazda USA tomorrow about all the issues with the car and all the lies from the dealership and this would add to the list. Thanks.

You should just have the plain sparco knob. No mazdaspeed one, no gearing on it.

Mine say's SPARCO across it and it is a 03 MSP.

That's a 2003.5 knob. The 2003 is a Sparco one and the gearing is on a sticker by the shifter on the center console.

You should have the Sparco knob!
Demand the dealer get you the right knob then let you keep the 03.5 knob for your trouble.

Someone must have really wanted that knob in their car so the "STEALERSHIP" took it from your car and gave it to someone else to make the deal.

I am so sick and tired!! One thing after the other!! It never seems to end!! I had the most horrible experience with this dealership!! They have lied to me 5 times now, that I know. I just found out about the shift knob today. I honestly like the Mazdaspeed knob better, but I am so pissed that I can't let the dealership get away with anything!!! They switched my mat s and I had to fight for them, now the knob. What else? I hate this!! They even said that I do have the correct knob because they had to order it from Mazda, so I asked why? they knob came with the car, right? They did not say anything...... SO what else did they do to my car?

I think someone jacked the first knob so they ordered one and it came for a 2003.5 I bet. I know when we went they had the shift knob off the car because they said people would steal it.

If you are having problems with the dealer in other issues I would definately give mazda usa a call.

I'm not sure if anyone else saw this, but a few weeks ago, a guy with a 2003 Spicy Orange MSP sold his shift knob on eBay, and he posted these pics of it. Maybe the 2 different types of knobs were distributed randomly(?)... Gotta love Mazda! Whoo hoo!

I got $5 on it that your floor mats and shift knob left that "STEALERSHIP" in the same PRO!Someone must have saw them while looking at a Pro and had to have them to make the sale so they switched them not thinking that the new owner of the MSP would have a problem.I would personally be really HOT right now!
The mat's alone are like $145 and im not sure on the knob price ,but I would say it is about $60+ dollars to get from sparco.

I agree. I sat in a 2003.5 and found the Mazdaspeed knob a bit too big for my liking. But again, this is purely subjective since I've gotten used to how the Sparco knob feels.

I feel for ya 03. Just raise as much hell as you possibly can. This is yet another reason why I stand by my statement that all dealerships should be outlawed and mfger'ers should start selling direct. It'd get the damn "middle man" out of the mix! I know, I know, it's not practicle....but a guy can always dream. All stealerships should rot in eternal hell.
